5 Armed Forces members disrupted Indigenous event on Canada Day

'The actions of a few do not reflect the Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian army,' military's Facebook post says

National Defence has confirmed five men who disrupted an Indigenous ceremony on Canada Day in Halifax are members of the Armed Forces.

The commander of the Royal Canadian Navy issued a statement on Facebook in response to the incident.

It did not say what, if any, actions are being taken against the members, but said "when the chain of command becomes aware of a sailor's/soldiers conduct that is not in keeping with our respective Codes of Conduct, or contrary to our strategic objectives, then it takes action.

Well, a bunch of protestors shouldn't have put a teepee up on Parliament Hill, either.

Where's your bitchfest about that?

Totally agree the Proud Boys was a lot more respectful toward the healing ceremony than the ladies were toward the "White Woman" reporter :)

It's not illegal to demonstrate in this country. If it were, all of the participants of the "Indigenous protest" would be equally guilty.

I find it ironic that the event included "Indigenous people and activists" who were out there to push an agenda, but the thought of a group of soldiers engaging in their own freedom of expression is unacceptable. People need to grow up and realize that in a free country, there can only be one set of rules for everyone, expecting anything else is foolish, damaging, and hypocritical.

Where did you get the idea that Canada is a free country?

That actually brought attention to a legitimate cause.

This didn't.

Well, with any luck, Americans will also get out and get their hate on against Indians.

If they can find us.

I was listening to the "Proud Boys" talking at the demonstration and I'm not sure that I heard "hate". They were saying or asking why Canadians should be responsible for something that happened 250+ years ago. It that hate?

Why ARE we supposed to be responsible for the behaviour of Cornwallis and the rest of Hanoverian British?

I don't think they were asking anybody to feel guilty for Cornholish. They were asking to have his statue removed because he was an asshole.

Can't argue with that but there are others who see him as their Jebediah Springfield. They are allowed.
