“That’s an egregious overreach of parliamentary power,” he said. “When we change laws in Canada, historically, it’s debated, it goes to the Senate, it has a specific path it has to take in order for something to become law. Usually, there has to a lot of public support for it. This is a slippery slope.”

It's an egregious fulfilling of a campaign promise that was publicly made.

Maybe you should have won the election instead of trying to overturn the results

Clueless.

It comes from my post above, the article with the poll in it.

Medicine Hat’s Brad Manysiak, who started the petition, said how the government is approaching this doesn’t sit well with him.

Here is the liberal election platform on gun control promising an assault weapon ban.

Fair enough, missed the quote... but what does it have to do with overturning election results?
The election featured a party promising to ban assault weapons.

That party won.

So whatever they promised should be delivered on.

..... and it would result in the criminalization of hundreds of honest people.
Not terribly intelligent, jjust like the Gliberal's first lame effort, not surprising. They are pretty thickheaded.

It would result in the criminalization of possession of assault weapons.
Who gets to define what is an assault weapon? Fully automatic rifles are already banned except for a few collectors. The gun banners are so stupid they think a 22 with a metal stock is an assult rifle.

I don't see where defining an assault weapon is so difficult

It seems to be one more spurious argument,

I agree that is why they are already banned for use in the private sector of Canada. Semi automatic is not an assault rifle even if they have pistol grips.
