The only word that matters in the whole spiel is 'if'.

Considering that Jim has more knowledge and understanding, I think, about a lot of the issues in the world from his service in the forces than many of us do from what we read, his "if" carries weight, IMO.

It might still be a "if", but when he posts, it's not without a lot of thought that goes into it. That you focus on the if instead of the actual meat of the post says a lot.

Though I agree with you, DB, I would prefer he be called what he was - a ****ing TERRORIST.

War, warriors and terrorism are inseparable Mowich. Now you may consider this man a terrorist but at the same time not consider the American war machinations waged near globally for decades at great human misery not terrorism is illogical. This Iranian generals record of death delivery cannot in any scence whatever be compared to the millions of innocents murdered by the USA globally.

One more good reason to send the troops to the muddle east. The terrorists are getting far too brave again. Good thing for the world that the US has a leader braves enough to stand up to them.

Can you Smell-ell-ell-ell-ell-ell-ell.....What the Trump....Is....Cooking?.....'cuz it smells like Iranian General on Iraqi soil...

(Qasem Soleimani (11 March 1957 – 3 January 2020), also transliterated as Qassem Suleimani or Qassim Soleimani, was an Iranian major general in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and, from 1998 until his death, commander of its Quds Force, a division primarily responsible for extraterritorial military and clandestine operations. Soleimani began his military career at the start of the Iran–Iraq War during the 1980s, eventually commanding the 41st Division. He was later involved in extraterritorial operations, providing military assistance to Hezbollah in Lebanon. In 2012, Soleimani helped bolster the government of Bashar al-Assad, a key Iranian ally, during Iran's operations in the Syrian Civil War and helped to plan the Russian military intervention in Syria. Soleimani oversaw the Kurdish and Shia militia forces in Iraq, and assisted the Iraqi forces that advanced against ISIL in 2014–2015. Soleimani was one of the first to support Kurdish forces, providing them with arms.[24][25] He maintained a low profile during most of his career. Soleimani was widely popular among Iranians, where his supporters viewed him as a "selfless hero fighting Iran's enemies." He was designated as a terrorist by the United States and by the European Union for his alleged involvement in attacks that led to the deaths of American troops stationed abroad. The entity he led, the Quds Force is considered a terrorist organization by Canada, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the United States. Soleimani was killed in a targeted U.S. drone strike on 3 January 2020 in Baghdad, which was approved by President Donald Trump on the grounds that Soleimani posed an imminent threat to American lives. Some commentators have disputed the necessity of the strike and expressed concern over the risk of an Iranian response. On 7 January 2020, the Iranian military attacked U.S. bases in Iraq in the wake of his death.)

I'm picturing an EMP Weapon that will remove the threat of a cyber attack by Iran against the US, reducing the Iranian nation back to the stone age (Yeah, yeah I know. Insert joke here, etc...), or an ultimatum of "You have 30 days to empty the Nation of Iran. The clock started when the first guided missile stuck the ground from Iran into Iraq targeting American Service Personal. Govern yourselves accordingly." Two days later when Iran releases a statement, Trump goes live behind a podium and just looks at his watch and says, "28 days, Govern Yourselves Accordingly" and then just walks off the stage. Maybe a couple of days after that Diplomats discuss things quietly behind the scenes and go from there....

Trump says he will make statement Wednesday in response to Iranian strike at two bases in Iraq

In a tweet, President Trump said he would address the nation Wednesday morning and sought to reassure Americans, declaring, "Assessment of casualties & damages taking place now. So far, so good! We have the most powerful and well equipped military anywhere in the world, by far!"
Trump's announcement came after Iranian forces launched more than a dozen ballistic missiles against two military bases in Iraq, according to the Pentagon, marking the most significant Iranian attack in the growing conflict with the United States.
