Didn't read all of my post did you? Clearly high gasoline prices worked as a deterrent to big engines in Europe and other parts of the world. And no one forces anyone to buy a vehicle with an oversized engine. If you choose to spew poisons into the air then you should pay the price.
It's called wealth redistribution and has nothing to do with Climate/weather/global warming.
Yes, I did and you are still horribly wrong. And still you support a tax that will do nothing for the environment. I get a monthly increase to my heating bill of $50.00 due to carbon tax. I can't very well stop heating my home in the winter. That carbon tax also affects my electricity (around $30.00) and we are not wasteful with electricity. Everything in my house is geared toward energy savings. All my lighting, all LED, my appliances are all energy savings. My windows are top end.. I own two vehicles. A car with a four cylinder and a pickup truck. The pickup is used for what it is made for, picking up lumber, moving refuse, hauling stuff. The four banger car is used for travel and commute. All of this was implemented before this bullshit tax.
The tax is not going to modify my behavior any more than it's going to modify the behavior of people who need the basics to live and feed their their families. It's simply going to punish the middle class, hurt the poor and put a microscopic dent in a rich persons income. The single parent who can't afford to upgrade their dwelling will pay more.
Too bad, tough shit. Go green.
On the other hand, the provinces that have implemented this bullshit tax will spend it and eventually they will come again with a new tax when they can concoct another lie. And at the end of the day, the environment will be no better off.

In a section reserved for women, applicants were asked to jot down the date of their last menstruation and gynecology exam, and declare whether they’d ever been pregnant or had an abortion.

Bouchard said she couldn’t explain why some of these last questions had been included, admitting they “contravened the values” of the university.

According to human rights lawyer Stephanie Fournier, the questionnaire is clearly discriminatory and violates Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Our plan is to move to the virtual elimination of fossil fuel use in Canada by mid-century. Our short-term target is 40 percent below 2005 levels by 2025, while we are calling for 80 percent reductions below 1990 levels by 2050. These are ambitious targets, yet the scale and urgency of this challenge demands nothing less. As Canadians, we will rise to this challenge and, in doing so, create a strong, stable, and prosperous economy today and for our children and grandchildren tomorrow.

Making greater efforts to export Cdn gas might even persuade Yankees to give up their dirty gas fracking and buy Cdn instead? Because we live here, our top environmental priorities are to: Defend our coastal waters from risky pipelines and oil tankers.
(How is it that LIE-berals and Greens have no problem with importing oil to eastern Canada using tankers running up the ENTIRE Atlantic coast from Venezuela yet go berserk over the same ships running straight across the Pacific from B.C. to China and back? Tankers shipping fossil fuel from west coast to Chinese markets will spend much less time close to shore than their eastern counterparts! And why bother shipping oil from Venezuela? Why not pipe it into eastern Canada from Alberta- with the entire production in carefully regulated Cdn hands? With a recent news report even telling us that LIE-beral oil production regulations are ALREADY MUCH TOUGHER than what is in place in Venezuela! Apparently LIE-berals have gravy in their eyes and cannot see?)
Only Green MPs will put our coastal communities first by standing against all new raw bitumen export schemes.
Kinder Morgan proposes a seven-fold increase in oil sands tanker traffic through Vancouver and Burnaby, while Energy East proposes to increase tanker traffic through the Bay of Fundy. These tankers would carry bitumen from the oil sands, mixed with toxic diluents to make it flow, a mixture that is impossible to clean up if spilled.
(And why mention Bay of Fundy when pipeline supporters are currently talking only of land based facilities that serve an eastern CDN market only? The ONLY new market for Alberta oil east of Kenora is Canadian! And there are ALREADY tankers from Venezuela off our east coast- not purchasing Venezuelan oil means LESS tankers in Bay of Fundy! On top of which it is not practical to ship tar sands oil to China from New Brunswick as a quick look at a world map would show! As for pipe line spills- these CAN be avoided by careful and HONEST regulation that demanded preventative maintenance to eliminate spills rather major clean ups after a spill!)
A single tanker accident would ruin our coast and the lives and livelihoods that depend on its health. That is why we recognize that the economic, social and environmental consequences of approving these projects is simply too high. We will take a stand and defend our coastline.
(Again- careful regulation and honest safety measures CAN prevent accidents- otherwise how do Venezuelan tankers pass through Florida hurricane season safely on a regular basis?)
Poll after poll shows that the people of the West Coast will not allow this risky project. More than half of British Columbians say they oppose the Kinder Morgan expansion, including more than three-quarters of young British Columbians. Even the Ontario Energy Board has ruled that Energy East poses more risks than benefits. While the old parties use complaints about process to avoid taking a stand, or even fast track and support these projects outright, the Green Party is the only party standing up for the people and communities threatened by these projects.
(Yes- a LARGE group of people who think they can ride this anti oil stance to personal profit are opposed to any environmental approach that might derail their very selfish personal plans!)
Protecting existing jobs in the industry, creating new jobs by upgrading and refining existing production, and providing skills training for workers who have been laid off or who want to transition to more stable, long-term jobs. This strategy (more Peter Lougheed and less Ralph Klein) would actually help Alberta’s economy avoid the disruptive boom and bust cycle.
(SO LIE-berals want to have more top down control of the environment and the economy! Has anybody been reading up on the problems that TTC has been having with its busses and street cars? Quality control is a huge issue with new vehicles from Bombardier apparently requiring much more maintenance than TTC counted on- it’s a sign of govt influence whenever we see a company get huge grants- we see quality control going WAY DOWN! One has only to think of the now dead Urban Transport Development Company- the beloved brain child of LIE-berals and NDPers- who now support Green Party style nonsense- that went bankrupt after sucking in huge piles of tax money! Or we could discuss Petro Canada- that giant LIE-beral fiscal black hole that could not produce a profit even though it was offered FREE ACCESS to oil fields that private companies PAID to get access to- AND the private companies made a profit on what THEY bought- while Petro Canada Hogs drowned in red ink! Govt could not run a chip truck at as profit- not even if you gave them the potatoes for FREE!)
Given climate realities and volatile international oil prices, expanding oil sands production is simply not on. Most of the bitumen in the Alberta oil sands must remain in the ground. We will create new jobs in Canada’s oil and gas sector by refining the product we already produce, rather than shipping it out raw for refining in other countries.
(Real world market demands will dictate what happens in the oil sands- unless politicians meddle for selfish reasons! LIE-berals dream in technicolour if they think they can “create” new jobs in Cdn oil and gas sector while stifling exports! There are already LONG TERM contracts in place that ensure that LIE-berals CANNOT meddle in oil production unless they want to end up like Alberta Ndpers- and are forced to sue themselves because they did not read those long term contracts- yes you rrad that right- various Ministries in Alberta govt are SUING each other for screwing up contracts for electricity! NDPers and Greens are the less intelligent, less shrewd and cunning cousins of slimy LIE-berals!)
In addition to increasing our refining capacity, Canada should be leading the global clean technology industry – an industry that has boomed in other countries like Germany, where over 1.4 million clean-tech jobs generate over 11 percent of the country’s GDP.
(And WHY would LIE-berals want to INCREASE our refining capacity if there is no way to export the resulting new product? And if green jobs are so wonderful then why can they ONLY EXIST by sucking up VAST govt subsidies? We have only to look at the LIE-beral mandated conversion of a coal burning plant in the Thunder Bay area- it now burns “bio-mass” which is a fancy way of saying GARBAGE- so that Cdns do not get excited about incinerators and the highly poisonous by product Dioxin! And there is no North American producers of biomass so LIE-berals are importing the crap from Europe- without bothering to discuss the HUGE carbon foot print involved! But hey- LIE-berals DID save 60 union Hog jobs at the generating plant- but its too bad the electricity it now produces costs TWENTY FIVE TIMES MORE than other forms of generation!)

For the last several years, the Innisfil Community Church (ICC) near the shores of Lake Simcoe in cottage country north of Toronto has run a popular day camp each summer. Full days, five days a week for eight weeks, at a cost of about $200 a week less than other area day camps.
(By now most Cdns will be aware of the Orwellian mind control that LIE-berals are forcing onto all manner of public groups- with grants now based on whether the groups will sign a commitment to adhere to FULL LIE-beral values!)
The appeal of the camp was mostly for local working families; not so much for the scions of stylish cottagers. School holidays last longer than mom and dad’s vacations, so ICC’s day camps provided a safe, active, decent place that parents without a lot of money could trust to keep their kids (about 80 each summer) happy and busy.
(And of course religious groups are in the summer camp business for moral reasons- and not for mere profit!)
The camp also employed between 10 and 12 local high school and university students, helping them learn leadership skills and earn a little money to go back to school in the fall.
But not this summer. The eight-week ICC camp won’t operate because the Trudeau government won’t give Canada Summer Jobs grants to any group that refuses to sign an “attestation” swearing it supports, among other things, abortion and same-sex marriage.
(The irony of LIE-beral “attestation” is that they are also forcing us to accept masses of Muslim immigrants who hold view about women and gays that are- to put it delicately- rather obsolete- by Cdn standards! How can LIE-berals fuss about abortion when their Muslim proteges want to ERASE ALL rights for women? And how to reconcile gay rights with those of Muslims who believe that it is acceptable to KILL a gay person so they will never sin again? LIE-berals scorn main stream Catholic Church and fawn over rabid Muslims!)
It’s a travesty that will be repeated all across the country as popular summer projects are cancelled because organizers refuse to submit to the Liberals’ intellectual bullying.
(NO doubt Muslims WILL get grant money- either because the LIE-beral boot lickers will not confront radical Muslims or because Islam allows a Muslim to LIE to an infidel to defend Islam- and LORD KNOWS- Muslims think they are entitled to gain much at our expense- in the brave new LIE-beral world we are not even permitted to regulate or limit who immigrates to Canada!)
Last week, it was reported that Ottawa had received just under 43,000 applications for jobs funding. Approximately 1,600 (about 4%) had been turned down because the applicants refused to kowtow to the Trudeau government on social issues.
The Liberals revealed these numbers, I think, because they thought the stats proved this was no big deal. The government seemed to be saying, “See, see, hardly anyone objected – only 4%.”
(And LIE-berals could have- but did not- crunch the numbers more fully- we would like to know who got turned down and why! The answer would reveal much about LIE-beral bigotry towards main stream white people that LIE-berals demonize as Islamophobes and systemic racists- which is why LIE-berals will NOT answer!)
But if 1,600 day camps have to be cancelled as a result of the Liberals’ ideological litmus test, or thousands of summer students are laid off, the impact will be significant.
If you want a glimpse of how obnoxious and undemocratic this is, consider the reverse. What would have been the Liberals’ reaction if the Harper Tories had made federal funds conditional on community groups signing “attestations” agreeing that “life begins at conception” or that marriage is “only between a man and a woman.”
(LIE-beral hypocrisy knows NO limits and NO shame! They are ENTITLED!)
The fact that the Liberals, who portray themselves as the great defenders of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, could think up this purity test and not instantly understand how it violates Canadians’ fundamental freedoms is yet another sign of their smugness and arrogance.
Modern “progressives,” who include the federal Liberal government, are full-throated in defence of rights, in theory. Yet in practice, they are usually only willing to protect the rights of people who agree with them and their world view.
Take, for instance, Environment Minister Catherine McKenna, who said last week she had no time for people who disagreed with her on climate change or who challenged the Trudeau government’s climate policies, notably a carbon tax imposed on provinces whether they like it or not.

Compare that to the Liberals’ outrage, while in opposition, when they claimed the Harper government was threatening the research grants of scientists who challenged government policy.
(Conservatives merely made efforts to silence scientists who griped about the lack of fresh gravy they felt entitled to- its why the civil service votes LIE-beral- they are being BOUGHT by borrowed money and shrug off the size of deficits! Neither Hogs nor their LIE-beral allies care about national bankruptcy!)
Or how about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s election commitment to increase transparency in Parliament versus his repeated attempts since to change House of Commons rules to reduce opposition opportunities even to question his government.
Then there is the Liberals’ pledge to end wasteful travel spending and clean up ethics, versus the reality of Trudeau’s exorbitant trip to India, his $700,000 (or more) trip to the recent World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland or his free vacation from the Aga Khan.
Over and over, the Liberals have made self-righteous proclamations only to do the exact opposite.
