Living in the “coldest village in the world,” residents of Oymyakon, Russia, are familiar with freezing temperatures. However, this year, the cold has been exceptionally bitter, causing the tiny town’s digital thermometer to break at a bone-chilling -62° Celsius (-80° Fahrenheit).

Worst-case global warming scenarios not credible: study
Earth's surface will almost certainly not warm up four or five degrees Celsius by 2100, according to a study released Wednesday which, if correct, voids worst-case UN climate change predictions.

A revised calculation of how greenhouse gases drive up the planet's temperature reduces the range of possible end-of-century outcomes by more than half, researchers said in the report, published in the journal Nature.

We did it! Texas shatters record for winter electricity use, without swamping the grid

Bitter cold across Texas brought a new winter record for peak electricity use, ERCOT, the state's independent electric grid operator announced Wednesday morning.

At one point, Texans were using 65,731 megawatts, blowing past the previous record by nearly 5 percent. Multiple records were set overnight as temperatures plunged statewide, but the new peak arrived between 7 and 8 a.m.

The peak use was significantly higher than the Electric Reliability Council of Texas' projection of 61,068 megawatts for a peak this winter. It fell short of the "extreme" peak projection by just 1,044 megawatts.

Overnight, the Dallas area recorded a low of 13 degrees, well below the average low of 34. While frigid, that was still far from the record low of 2 degrees in 1930.

Erroneous data maybe. The whole idea behind the models is to predict, so "preconceived outcome" doesn't enter the picture. That is what leads to the ideas of fearmongering and whatnot. I think there are more variables than we know, so that is why models may be a bit off now and then.
Either way, like I said, it's pretty tough to argue with thermometers, so some data is quite accurate.
Another problem is interpretation of data, and that's a problem because of the variables, as well.

Climate forecasts are performed using software written for multimillion $$$ supercomputers.

There are a dozen or so such computers in use around the world but of course their predictions are only as good as the software.

No predictions predicted the 19+ years global warming hiatus we have recently experienced during which temps 'plateaued'.

In addition the IPCC which has been quoted by our illiterate media etc.,forecasting year after year of incorrect alarmist nonsense recently admitted that earth climate was too random and complex to predict (!)

They only took 30+ years to tell us the truth.

Finally, it is true that the climate is getting warmer - by roughly the same amount each century as it has been since the end of the last ice age 18,000 years ago.


CAGW (Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming) has always been about taxes and worldwide income redistribution, never about climate.

Good to see that with EU & other countries quietly ignoring the meaningless Paris Accord, the scam is soon going to be over,
