Do you not understand? I have no interest in either obtaining a gun in order to protect myself or to kill. I am like most Canadians more interested in protecting people against killing machines which is exactly what a gun is!!

I am more interested in knowing why some people are so sure that guns will protect the average citizen. In my life, I have had no need to shoot my food nor have I ever been threatened by a gun. Mostly I used my umbrella to beat off a dumb male who tried to assault me and made sure to stay away from older men who wanted to button up my sweater, or fondle my breasts in entry ways. I wouldn't have been as tough at protecting myself if I felt threatened by a gun. I do not think the outcome would have been as fortunate protecting myself if I had to deal with a shoot out.

Blacks are more likely to be arrested, charged and convicted of very serious crimes because they are many times more apt to commit very serious crimes.

Just for fun, as anecdotal evidence, spend a few evenings watching 48 Hours. You know, they start with the victims......and my oh my it usually turns out the perpetrator is Black.

I also know during that period the guns were not required to be locked away and many times I and my sisters were alone in the house in our teenage years. The bullets were kept separately but we all knew where they were kept. Many of the boys in our neighborhood knew my dad hunted and we had guns, We were smart enough to deny the request of the boys to see and handle those guns.

Nope. Because most of us grew up that way. In our house there was a loaded rifle hanging over the back door. Everyone knew it was there and the house was never locked. Hunting season most trucks had a rifle or two having in the back window. Never had a problem.
