I work for a company that has an IP department and we have just over 100 patents, so I understand how IP and patents work. I'm just not clear how it relates to gov't scientists. Because the gov't is the people of Canada.

The one I remember was a scientist that moved from ON to FL so he could continue cancer research.
Harpy did cut R&D by quite a bit.
And the muzzling thing was not so important considering the press, but scientists were not allowed to collaborate with scientists from other countries in their fields of research. THAT was sheer stupidity, IMO.
IP? Really? What were scientists sharing with scientists that was so secret and were not sharing before Harpy?
The muzzling reduced scientific collaboration down to 36%. And the cuts mostly affected research into crude oil/the oil sands extraction and whatnot and atmospheric/ice/pollution research but also affected cancer research, oceans research, and others.
Harpy did not get around to burning books and stuff, though. Maybe that would have been too big of a task.

Sounds like all scientists agree that climate change IS an issue, just not what's causing it. At the end of the day, since we can't control the things that humans haven't done, but we can control the things we are doing that we KNOW contribute, doesn't that mean we should control what we can control?
