They do......I had a protected carry license (Canadian equivalent of concealed) for about 15 years!

I'm sure that they thoroughly wish that you didn't. You have the Crown-given special privilege and responsibility of being allowed to carry and you turn around and preach the utterly irresponsible position that everyone should be armed and if we disagree with you ,we are lesser beings. The police do not like to see weapons like this all over the place. Maybe, they will figure out who you are and lift your permits, for your irresponsibility. I hate to think that so many morally ambivalent people, such as yourself are freely armed in our country. Preaching the NRA line here is borderline criminal.

Friday night transforms Curious Cdn into a special kind of troll. Very offensive and insulting but don't expect it to hold up long in a calm rational discussion.

I have a *****, but that doesn't make me part of a rapist demographic. I have kitchen knife yet no one has ever compared me to jack the ripper. My baseball bat and golf clubs don't make me some nutcase from a horror movie.

I'm pretty confident that Curious Cdn's characterization of a law abiding Canadian firearms owner is so extreme he will have most gun control supporters embarrassed for him.

I suspect he is unaware that handgun owners pass an automated PRC everyday. I am not worried about Da Sleeper's characterr, I'm worried about Curious Cdn. When was the last time he passed a PRC?

Imo, that should be issued to anyone on horse in grizzly country. A backup means of defense should not be prohibited to anyone that finds themselves lying on their back while their horse runs away with their rifle. The notion that a handgun adds a criminal risk to someone on a horse with a rifle is truly retarded.

I'm sure that you got "B" iin fiction writing.

BTW, disagreeing with your point of view does not qualify me as a troll. Oh, and you are the Canadian clinging to a minority view, not me. Most Canadians do not want an armed population.

Funny Canada already has an armed population . It may come as a surprise to you but most Canadians do not live in major cities .

It obviously comes as a big surprise to you but Canada is 81% urban and 19% rural and the urban part is climbing rapidly.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urbanization_by_country

Our population is more urbanized than that of the U.K., as surprising as it sounds.

What a lot of antis don't realize is the extent of training and testing that go on before an application for a permit to carry is approved.
So much so that a lot of people give up when faced with it.
One instructor once told me jokingly of course, that when he signed the application.....it was the same as saying he would trust me to sleep with his wife and not touch her:lol:
And at every renewal time you have to go to the local O.P.P. office and get re-approved.
It's a simple formality, but they seem to always have a little test involving a different firearm every time for you.
The only reason I haven't renewed fo about 6 years now is because I don't need it anymore.
But I do keep My FAC updated (Just checked....good till August 2018)

So, with all of that training, you then go ahead and advocate for every man, woman and child owning a gun because of the high crime rate in East LA? I guess that the rigorous training doesn't teach much critical thinking.

How many civilians are eligible for such a permit? I can think off CP Rail Security, Armoured Truck, National Park wardens.

Are there any others that you can think of?

Not everyone. You still haven't passed a PRC. You can not be trusted.

Actually, I have a current PRC ... just not a recent FAC ... and by the way, I would have one of those if I lived out in the countryside. What I object to is a population of idiots with loaded Glocks under every pillow.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urbanization_by_country

What is the definition of urban? Did you bother to check? It includes population ceters of 1000 people or greater. While technically correct, the average person living in a small town of a few thousand people can easily identify themselves with the rural population, and not so easily with the citizens of a large city like Toronto or Calgary.

Actually, I have a current PRC ... just not a recent FAC ... and by the way, I would have one of those if I lived out in the countryside. What I object to is a population of idiots with loaded Glocks under every pillow.

If I had a Glock, I would do the responsible thing and have a bedside safe with finger print detection on the lock. is that something you would find acceptable?

No, you haven't had a PRC. Your PRC is the kind of PRC that a boy scout leader can get in 12hours with the new website service. The PRC for a FAC is a reall PRC, it takes months to complete.

without looking it up....Bush plane Pilots. Helicopter Pilots, wilderness surveyors, and prospectors are allowed and even recommended magnum calibers....and in areas with polar bears, nothing less than .44 magnum....
Trappers are only allowed .22 cal handguns

Typical big city bluster.....

adendum... that was 2018 in my previous post 8 and) seems to be the code for a smillie

what you asked two of your loonie tunes friends to come up with that projection? Most Canadians outside of cities and many in cities have at least one rifle or shotgun. It is only citiots that tend towards unlicenced automatic handguns.

How many civilians are eligible for such a permit? I can think off CP Rail Security, Armoured Truck, National Park wardens.

I know several foresters that carry in bear country. Makes perfect sense to me.

Not quite true there Birdie- U.S. didn't enter WW2 until almost 3 years in and only after the Japs bombed the crap out of Pearl Harbor and as for WW1, it was damned near over before the Yanks got involved.
If the future of America promises Endless War, be rest assured that this is no different than her past. Below, I have reproduced a year-by-year timeline of America’s wars, which reveals something quite interesting: since the United States was founded in 1776, she has been at war during 214 out of her 235 calendar years of existence. In other words, there were only 21 calendar years in which the U.S. did not wage any wars.

Well for gawd's sake does it matter?? It has to do with how each of our countries evolved. One born in war and one peacefully (relatively) It explains an lot about our present day outlooks, doesn't it??

Would you feel safe in your home if the nearest cop was half an hour away?
I do and they are. A good alarm system is safer alternative to a gun.

That probably has more to do with the gun deaths than Canada's gun laws.
