Northern Ontario,
I knew in advance and even put it in my post that you would be too dense to get the analogy..
You probably didn't get the post just before your last

William Pitt in 1763, speaking in the British Parliament:

"The poorest man may in his cottage bid defiance to all the forces of the Crown. It may be frail, its roof may shake; the wind may blow through it; the storms may enter, the rain may enter,—but the King of England cannot enter; all his forces dare not cross the threshold of the ruined tenement."

He takes his musket against a company of the King's, he's pretty much f*cked.

In other words, "a man's home is his castle" is completely unrelated to gun ownership. Anybody who thinks different has an action-movie view of life.

not sure you fully understand the reference the same way that it is intended. The high river incident was more than just gun ownership. And, the last I checked, who owned the guns was not the dispute at hand.

Some people say that there was no harm done, but I hear there is a poll showing that 54% of high river residents will NOT evacuate the next time there is an emergency. Like the guy from rebel media says "That is not good"

As far as the cops are concerned (pretty well right across Canada) the perception of the R.C.M.P. and cops in general dropped to a whole different level after Oct. 2007 when the immigrant was tasered to death (murdered) at Vancouver Airport. Every little faux pas from now on just drives the perception a little lower. It will be decades before they will be able to regain their previous level of respect. It's too bad the majority have to suffer because of a few "rotten apples" but that's life.

Most of the rotten apples are at the top.

Any closer to agreement guys? Once you do, please start the summary thread so I can read your final common ground so I can present it to my MP. We wouldn't all this effort go to waste.

What is the question, again? Free and unfettered weapons ownership for all?
