It seems to me to be quite simple.
Canada is a nation. Canada's citizens are a privileged group compared to the rest of the world. To join the exclusive club that is Canadians you must jump through certain hoops. You do not get to dictate the rules of the club, because you are not in the club. If you do not want to jump through the hoops, that is fine, please find your paradise elsewhere.

I bolded the revelent part - and say to it yes, and no.
We're great if they're trying to escape the hell that is their previous home, we're great if we can give them the "freedoms" they want, but cross the line into freedoms that they don't want others to have - women exposed, strong, independent, etc - then we're not worth the dirt on their shoes.
This woman was given an option to privately uncover her face in front of other females and she said no. She chose to say so. In so chosing she chose also to ignore the requirement of the country she wanted to join.

Soooooooooo, we as a forum group hardly if EVER all agree on an issue. Most seem to agree here. That would indicate to me that there have to be many many other Canadians that feel thus.

The problem is with immigration and who they are allowing into this country to begin with.. Changes to the Canada Immigration is over due.
The woman in the picture is blue eyed. Haven't run across too many blue eyed Pakistanis in my day. Having said that, until our laws specifically state that her extreme Islamic beliefs won't be accommodated, then by default our laws regarding religious freedom and societal tolerance pick up the slack to and like it or not she is in the right, legally speaking.

is a still to the right. Here the present conservative party is right wing the Federal Liberals
are in my view right wing liberals at best and the so called social democrats would be
liberals Many Americans see them as socialists but I don't they are left wing liberals

Lebanon is a country of 4.5 million people with about 60,000 registered Canadians living there. For perspective, the USA with 10x our population has only about 2000 citizens living there. Statistically there are more Canadians living in Lebanon than every other non middle eastern country in the world combined and then doubled. Similar stats for Syria etc.
There are no "little Canada" quarters tucked away in Beirut filled with the emigrant families of McDougals, Therriens and Proudfoots seeking a better life whose kids are playing street hockey while the air hangs thick with the aroma of maple, women dress up in yoga pants and old men quietly sip double doubles on park benches while watching porn on their blackberries.

I think as a people we slide more easily along the left right continuum than many other countries... in some issues we lean left, in others we slide along to the right maybe even far right and we are comfortable with that.
At least I have to say that I am.
