Bump:

This event was a proud moment for Canadians. This movie takes that moment away.

Future American movie plots:

Brave American Stops a column of tanks in Tienanmen Square

Americans put the first man in space:

Americans first to climb Mount Everest:

American Scientists discover insulin

American explorers discover America
Is it because Hollywood is MORE convincing in THEIR historical revisions?

People's perceptions are based on what they know. Most people under 50 will only know this movie... including many Canadians.

Excuse me for being offended that an American would take a Canadian story and turn it into an American story.

This movie stole credit for Canadian creativity and courage, and attributes it falsely to an American who in reality only played a supporting role. Young Canadians should know the real Ken Taylor. Instead they will watch this movie and believe he was just was a polite concierge who assisted a brave and resourceful American CIA agent. People who do great things like Ken Talor and the other Canadians involved in The Great Canadian Caper should be recognized. This movie steals their thunder and yes I'm offended.

Would you be offended if an Oscar winning movie stole Team Canada's 1972 victory over the Russians and attributed Henderson's series winning goal to an American playing for Team USA?

How many great Canadian moments can Americans steal from us before polite, helpful and subservient Canadians (a common American perception of Canadians reinforced by Argo) get offended?

For me, 1 is enough. I have no intention of spending my money to watch Argo credit Ken Taylor's and Canada's bravery and resourcefulness to Americans.

Canadians should boycott this movie.

We should kick up a big stink, not just for ourselves, but also for fellow Canadian, Ken Taylor.

And what would that accomplish? Even Ken Taylor got over it and is fine with the movie now. Its just a movie people. Get over it.

Hey Gh, how does it feel to have EAO hanging on to your coat tails? lol.

This is probably the funniest part. EAO and Gerry. Gerry has a new tard friend!

Canadians should boycott this movie.

Boycott the movie? Now?!

It already won an Oscar you dope! lmao

Boycott Star Wars and Titanic now while you're at it. You'll have the same effect.

Pfft... who remembers that one...

1980 baaaaby!

Now, with regards to me, I have no desire to see the movie. While the story has changed somewhat from what had happened in reality(and irked me a little), that isn't the reason I don't want to see it. It just didn't look like that interesting of a movie.

Same here... no desire at all.

The first casualty of American cinema is truth. And, of course, the hero always drawls.

No kidding... l mean check this out...

Not a shred of truth here.

Apparently American cinema has not been truthful for some time now.

I remember it as well, and to say thank you to Canada for rescuing the Americans it was organized that all around the States radio station were to play the Canadian National Anthem, but in Florida when the time came they played Anne Murray’s Snow Bird.

Wasn't enough Can. Amazing what sway a Hollywood Actor has over them.

Ben Affleck... geez.

Its called Gratitude and CanIrish understands the concept
(BTW, Thank you for acknowledging the risks Canadians took to help Americans)

ES, When someone helps you do you:
a)Acknowledge their help and say thank you
b)Ignore what they did and thank yourself

Argo is not based on fiction like Planet of the Apes or Independence Day. Argo is based on a real event previously known as The Great Canadian Caper and now known by most people under 50 as Argo.

...and some people believed Hollywood spoke American foreign policy through some whacko cleric too. I know the reality behind Argo. You know.... We all know. Hollywood needs something to shape a story around. Kinda neat they pick a lot of Canadian guts, eh?

The whole country did. Apparently it wasn't enough since Ben Affleck has sent a good portion of you folks ballistic.

I say thank you. But if I say thank you but if some people don't think its enough... F*** em'.

Duh.... BASED... BASED... BASED.

It was a MOVIE... a MOVIE BASED on a real event. It was not real.

Titanic... Pearl Harbor... Saving Private Ryan... FICTION BASED on REAL EVENTS. it was not a TRUE STORY

Are we clear?

Gosh you are dense... you and your new boyfriend Gerry. Good grief.

Ben Affleck could have made the same movie and got the same dramatic effect by casting himself as Ken Taylor who was the true hero in this story. This movie could have been a tribute to Canadian/US cooperation and friendship and a lasting acknowledgement of Canadians helping Americans in a time of need.

Instead Affleck and the screen writer chose to create a pro-American fiction at the expense of Canada and Canadians. Hows that for gratitude?

All Canadians should be offended by this movie. Boycott Argo!
