In a choice between spending a couple of years in a Swedish prison.. with a reputation for 'soft time'.. or spending the rest of my life in Ecuador.. i don't know if it's even a toss up. I'd go and face the music.
There are several politicians who have enetered and left the UK while having pending charges. Apparently exceptions can be made.Would this not be the case already anyway? Even with asylum he'd have to leave the embassy to get to some form of transportation out of the UK.
It'll be interesting to see how it goes.

The solution is simple, really.
Who cares about Ecuador?
Declare their diplomats and foreign embassy staff persona non grata in Britain. They have to leave. Assange has no diplomatic status, the second he leaves the embassy, he is subject to arrest. If he doesn't leave the embassy, let him starve there.
Simple..
That's a simple solution, and would set an interesting precedent when other countries did that to the UK, or to Canada, simply rounded up our embassy staff and arrested them for whatever reason.
Might just as well do away with the whole concept of embassies.

Who said anything about arresting anyone aside from Assange???

So you've already, charged, tried and convicted him and now are ready for the execution!:lol:
Death penalty, just for leaking documents from the dictators of the worlds.
The EU does not have the death penalty- Those extradited to the US from the EU are guaranteed by agreement with the US that if convicted they cannot receive the death penalty. Same when Canada extradites to the US.

Then they could manage some supposed accident, just like they did in the past.
Well if the brits gestapo attack the vehicle(s) that will carry him to Ecuador,we'll see how evil they are
"and i mean the system, not the citizens"
Indeed. So far as I can tell only horrible war torn places have done something like that.

If it got to that point. Why would they attack? Simply pull them over. He's got to get out of the car at some point to get on a plane.
Just because you are granted asylum doesn't mean you get a free ride to the airport and the host country can't touch you.
Perhaps Ecuador can build him a permanent residence at their embassy.
Or Iran
Coincidence or what

The UK would have to accept that status- which they would not. They have the right to refuse accreditation.Ok I am back. Interesting article. I am sure that is the next step... How can they sneak him out of the country. The far fetched plan is to grant him full citizenship and make him an Ambassador... but it would be funny if they tried.
Just looking at the Ecuadorian embassy I would think it would be tricky to sneak him out of the building let along the country. Diplomatic immunity doesn't mean you can be allowed to commit a crime or continue to commit a crime. You can't just walk into a store and rob it and hold up your immunity card and walk by the police.

Easier to get him on an Ecuadorian freighter passing in international waters. That is what??? 12-14 miles from the coast.
