No drought in the 2 provinces im getting punted around right now,I went to Saskatoon for an oil change a few weeks ago and there was roads completely under water.The water table is very high.

I dont think I have seen one person yet on this forum that starts topics about the global warming without ever offering some solution to it.

I believe I mentioned a long time ago that I've always loved trolleys since childhood:

As for insulating homes, the government can easily give a couple of hundred dollars credits for these:

Just as the government pays farmers not to grow certain commodities, the government can pay for these forms of insulation for those from low incomes. We had insulated windows installed in our apartments and they work very well to keep out the cold.

I am quite sure that there are MANY other ways to reduce oil use and to provide heat for homes that promote cleanliness and safety.

With deregulation in Alberta I pay 3 bills now to get power so solar would actually be viable as we have probably the most expensive power in Canada.

I just need to find a good deal on some solar panels and I'll be not only off the grid but hopefully getting a cheque from the power company when im making more then I use.

I see in SK you only get a credit for power made?

I'm not asking for backing, but let's do this as an exersize. What are the requirements? what buildings are there? What are current energy usages? What area of SK are you in? Nearest airport with weather stats. What appliances, tools, motors, etc.?

Yes there is a massive drought in the Mid Western United States but is it
Global Warming? I wonder what they called the Dust Bowl of the Dirty
Thirties? No one knew about GW then did they. These things come in
cycles and what disturbs me is, we might have more than one year of it.
What will happen then? Will Global Warming's Chicken Little suffocate
in the dust of the Midwest?
I think we are experiencing our turn at global weather pattern changes for
years it was Africa, Australia, parts of Europe and now North America.
In a few years it will be someone Else's turn.
The real problem is we have developed a commercial food policy that does
not account for drought and distribution could mean food shortages for us
in Canada. you can bet Americans will look after their own needs first. Of
course in Canada we indulged in a cheap food policy so we don't have as
many farmers or the farm output we used to have. No on is talking about
that yet and it is the real emerging problem.

Of course, as has been said very many times, the Dirty Thirties was a consequence of an extended El Nino. I don't know why you refuse to accept that. It is no secret and this warming has nothing to do with an El Nino; only with GHGs.

It is not cyclical and it is not happening in different regions of the Earth at different times. "It os not "our turn." The whole world is warming and warming more rapidly than it has ever done in the past.

To my thinking the summers today don't hold a candle to the sizzlers we had when I was a kid. Perhaps one of the problems today is that people don't have enough to do except to sit around and fret about the weather. Kids in Cranbrook just got a $100000 grant because there is nothing to do for kids in that community. :lol::lol::-(

Have you ignore the posted temperature charts and records? If you were a kid in 2007 or 2005, then you might be right. If you were a kid at any other time, then you have a faulty memory.

It was an extended El Nino that began in 1926. We are at the tail end of a La Nina now so just imagine the summer you will have next year if we get a strong El Nino in its place.

I was a kid in the 40s and 50s and no my memory is definitely not faulty about the summer of 1958...........I lived in Victoria where it was even a scorcher and over 60 days straight with no rain. I would concede that mean annual temps might be a degree or two warmer now as our winters aren't as cold but the summer extremes are no hotter. As a matter of fact if you check the almanac for B.C. for the month of July 1941 (which I did recently) you will see a handful of B.C. towns set all time temp. records. I'm going to see what I can find.
