So, if more laws are the answer then why do we see a rise in impaired driving and drug related deaths? Btw, suicide was illegal in Canada until 1972. That did not work either so we scrapped the ridiculous law.

When was the last time you used a gun to dig a hole? or to diaper a baby or to peel a potato?? A shovel as you noted is used generally to dig with. You probably could swat someone on the head with it, but there is no guarantee you would kill them. It is not the purpose of a shovel. When a gun is fired at a target, ie. a human it will kill or maim that person if your aim is any good at all. It has no other purpose than to KILL. You cannot use it as a spoon, a fork or a knife. Ignorance is not bliss, it is evidence of stupidy, noithing more or less.

Not a sensible reply. My children hung out in neither place. One a master mechanic,inventor, one an artist, and the other works in a mental health unit. My grandchildren....a lawyer, and the other an internet company geek. The first works with international organizations such as homes for humanity, and child welfare. The latter loves to restore antique cars and loves carpentry as well.

Do yours hang out at the gunsmith shop?? Perhaps, rockets and space exploration are better choices. Just my opinion though.

Exactly where did I say more laws were required?? Leave the laws that are working alone!! Enforce those that need it..ie smuggling guns over our borders. Confistication should be accompanied by a hefty fine and banning from crossing the border for life. Such weapons do not belong in the hands of the young or criminals. Changing the laws re hand guns is disaster.

Of course, there is also the option of pills lowering the testosterone of those with dangerous aggressive tendencies.

Not being a gun owner myself I wasn't in position to do much about a cougar stalking the campsite on a recent wilderness trip.
Thankfully a couple of warning shots from another camper(big bad scary American) scared the lion away before he harmed any of the many children in the campsite.
I remember a bear attack on a child at the Laird River Hotsprings in northern B.C. Again thankfully another big bad American ran to his camper and got his gun and killed the bear before it could eat the kid.
I was sure glad people with guns were around in both instances.
Not all is black and white miss bluebyrd.

Why do you suggest that?? I certainly do not condone that sort of nonsense. On the other hand there should be teeth in the laws re smuggling hand guns and equipping police and customs officers to enforce our present laws. Without access free to smuggled guns, there would be a very small criminal element

Decent laws are not feel good. ie...no smoking in hospitals, or other public institutions. If one wants to subject their own children to second hand smoke there is not a lot the law can do about it. Seat belts are obligatory, and they do bring the death tolls down, sanitary laws in food production, etc. etc. This kind of discrimination against personal freedom, is probably abhored by some cave people, but the rest of us appreciate the protection. I am not trying to change human nature, only about respecting the rights of the majority to live a fear free life.

Furthermore, I am proud of MY family, why shouldn't I bragg about them??
