Westboro Baptists - What does it take?

First of if one follows the Bible, it says you are know by your actions.
Well if you read the big black book, you soon find that God does not
hate anyone.
Therefore these folks would condemn themselves. They are not even
relevant in today's world. Can you imagine people behaving like this?
Free speech is not the issue here, common decency is the issue here,
or lack of it.

I just hope that people know far enough in advance where these idiots plan to "protest" next so they can prepare a proper welcome. I have a feeling that Westboro may try to go the "sneaky" route in the future. That way they can't be hindered in their plans.

I would love to see a spontaneous counter-protest spring up if they ever did that. There is enough animosity for this group that I truly believe that has a possibility of happening.

I would love to have people squirt them with a squirtgun filled with smelly swamp water, and if the police question their actions they could just say that they were just cooling them off since it was so darned hot out.;)

LOL. Assault with a smelly weapon, I like it!

Add to that continually broadcasting that You Tube video of the Foo Fighters on giant screens, interspersed with songs by Queen and a gay chorus singing a robust and rousing rendition of "It's Raining Men" and you got yourself a party! ;)

Considering how their traps would almost always be open, I think a large bit of the swamp water would make them want to close them...which would make for some peace and quiet for everyone else.;)

Awesome! Then we could hear the music and actually be able to dance to it. Now it's a party! ;)

The Westboro "Baptist" folks like to scream that God killed that soldier/airman/marine/sailor, because the US "tolerates" homosexuals. They scream things like "God hated your son"; "Your son died to protect depravity"; "This man died because God hates the United States", etc., etc., etc.

They have come into cemeteries, including National Cemeteries (which ARE public spaces), and bleated this crap at grieving families. They have verbally abused the widows and children of service members.

I support the right of people to say anything, no matter how offensive, as a part of 'freedom of speech". BUT, I also support a policy of blocking those "people" at the entrance to the cemetery.

I would have said they were useless animals, but that would be an insult to the wild animals in this world.

While I detest spammers regardless of where the post their crap, I particularly detest them when they choose threads like this to try and peddle their garbage.

Bill Maher is an obnoxious idiot.

He is to atheism what the Westboro Boys are to the Baptist religion.

Anything Bill Maher is intellectually, I ain't....and I'm proud of it.

As any thinking individual should be.....

Bill is only an idiot because you disagree with him. His movie and TV show are brilliant. His sense of humour is sharp and poignant. And that comes from a non-atheist. I disagree with most of your views too, but I would not call you an idiot. Calling Bill an idiot, to me, denotes a certain insecurity about your personal beliefs.

All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

But redemption is possible.

:)

The sad thing is that there are plenty of other organizations that will also stop talking to people or worse when they leave. Church of Scientology probably being one of the worse offenders. At least this woman will get some support because of the infamy she once held and the infamy of the church she has left.

Not sure if that is the sort of support that helps people, however.

Its becoming one right versus another right. We have to shut this group down because the
message is bad but we should allow people to run around with automatic or semi automatic
weapons like they do in third world countries and the splitting of interests and the publicity
are the key motivating factors that give the Westboro Baptists and the NRA momentum.
No I do not agree with the disgusting behaviour of the this group they are not even Baptists
really they are an anarchist group that has been allowed to hijack the good name of the
Baptist Church. I sometimes have problems with religion but there are many good people who
would never condone such behaviour.
As for the NRA they have to start looking to finding some movement on their own side or they
will lose traction in the mainstream and that is happening. Do I support all the proposed gun
control measures, No, but the attitude of the NRA makes them difficult to support as well.
When we applaud one set of rights and condemn another when we don't totally agree with either
we set ourselves up for trouble in society.

Although I think your example might be a bit off, I agree with the general idea.

I do find it funny how many 2nd amendment advocates in the US have embraced the strawman however. Namely, I've seen a lot of policians and lobbyists talking about how the 2nd amendment is there so that the people can defend themself against the government. Of course, it is a strawman because you cannot defend yourself against the US government without nuclear capabilities...

It is strange how many 2nd amendment absolutists there are compared to 1st amendment absolutists. I agree with that idea. I'd like to see them do away with slander and libel to start.

I watched Politically Incorrect because I suffered from low blood pressure. Or I enjoy outrage. Or it was like a trip to the zoo, watching monkey Maher masturbate and throw feces.

Pick one.

I really don't know.

Oddly, Politically Incorrect was the most politically correct program ever broadcast. Never an original thought, never any blasphemy against the progressive mantra.........

Anyway, I decided way back then that Maher was a complete drooling moron. And nothing has happened to change my mind.

Bill Maher Calls Sarah Palin **** | Stand-Up Act | Mediaite

Classy guy!!!

NOT

Funny, there are a bunch of people in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Vietnam who would tell you that resistance to the will of the USA is quite possible without nukes.

Nooo...

The Americans don't shut down Westboro for the same reason they let people keep arms.....because it is a free country.

Although I have no problem with background checks......

Apparently a couple of the girls have "left the flock" and are speaking out now too. Too bad more won't do so; I feel really sorry for the little kids being brainwashed into this.
