I googled it but it's not exactly a secret whats in the fluid.
It's acidic. What happens when you add acids to carbonate rock? How much extra would these fracking companies get dinged if people figured out they are releasing CO2 in the fracking process?

I just know they have been doing it for decades here and our water is fine,it was even voted best drinking water in Canada at one time which is surprising considering the amount of abandoned strip mines around here and 1500 kilometers of abandoned underground tunnels that are all full of water.

Funny, this group provides some evidence to the contrary...

Alberta Surface Rights Group - Advocating for the future of Alberta's land and water.

It is exactly a secret what the proprietary ingredients are and in what concentrations, are in fracking fluid.
ya,the Alberta surface rights group is not exactly without an agenda.
They are pretty well ignored by those in the industry.

Frac fluids are no secret, theres no security watching over service rigs and ask any roughneck and im sure they will tell you whats in their fluid.

Mainly 95.5% sand and water

All it takes is thousands of people moving to the countryside, drilling wells and severely dropping a watertable to the point coal gases can seep in and trash the entire aquifer for everyone like in PA.

Canora SK....

The town was judged to have the best-tasting municipal water in Canada at the 13th annual international water tasting competition held in 2003 in Bath (Berkeley Springs), West Virginia, USA. Canora’s water, supplied by several ground wells northeast of the community, also placed fourth internationally at the competition that received entries from eight countries and 23 states. Free samples of this great-tasting water are available at the CN Station House Museum during the summer months.

No doubt.

I'd wager that Roughnecks don't know what the full ingredient list is. Just as you're about to show evidence of...

Mainly 95.5% sand and water
Aaahhh yes, the 95.5%. It's the 5% that is a trade secret of the fluids manufacturers, that poses questions.

But you stick to believing that that 5% is just nothing...

Is there any actual evidence of that being the reason?

From most sources, the only drilling in most areas was for fracking, not water wells.

it's actually more like .05% the rest is water and sand.

Theres no big secret, ask anyone on the service rig and im sure they will show you the containers complete with ingredients and whmis labels.

You can even google it,it's totally public whats in the mix, lots of chemicals for sure but .05% of volume.

My bad, my typo makes it all better,

WHMIS labels don't have to have proprietary ingredients listed, if the manufacturer has an HMIRC exemption number.

As the manufacturers of fracking fluids have done.

That comment leaves me pondering whether you are being willfully obtuse, or are actually that stupid.

So where are they getting their water?
From healthy wells that existed long before fracking started.

Your original post inferred that it was over drilling for water that caused the issues in PA.

Do you have evidence of that or not?

No,the ingredients are listed on the net in lots of places,on a lease site I would just have to ask the rig manager what recipe they are useing.I'm more worried about the stuff coming out of the ground like h2s then the stuff were pumping back in as it wont kill you.

And he'll tell you all of it, except for that all important .05%. Which isn't listed, and exempt from the WHIMS label by the HMIRC.

I'm more worried about the stuff coming out of the ground like h2s then the stuff were pumping back in as it wont kill you.
Not according to many Doctors looking to get the contents of that .05%.

But the commentary of a bulldozer operator trumps a Doctor at every level,

I'm still pondering.

And that makes you an authority?

At this point AlbertaSurfaceLandRights, makes a better source of information. At least they can support their claims with some form of evidence, beyond "Because I say so".

Care to share?

I read an article years ago about fracking in Montana destroying water wells. As I remember they were shallow wells, as in water well depth looking for shale gas. The issue only came up here because someone wanted to drill for gas in the coal or shale deposits near Courtney which are quite deep and they claimed that because of the deep wells it would not be an issue. About all I remember of it.
