And the nannystate, is making more. And we also have laws to protect consumers.
Amazing how stupidity reigns.
It is illegal to sell or give away used car seats because there is no way of knowing if that car seat has been in an accident. Do you all understand that or are ya,s all too dense?
It has nothing to do with newer seats being "safer", and if you idiots had done your research before you all started mouthing off you would know the reasons.
And the nannystate, is making more.
Not particularly. But I have seen lawn darts.Has anyone here ever gone to a flea market and noted razor blades on sale at a very low price?

I love lawn darts so much, I bought them. My sons have played with them for years. We're all still alive.
If an accident occurred, it would be my fault, not the vendors.
Is buy a used car seat any riskier than buying a used car? How many cars built in the 80s and 90s since have been deemed to have unsafe features?
If you were buying a used car would you take it for an inspection by a mechanic?
If the nanny state is so concerned, they should make it illegal to BUY a crib or car seat from anybody who isn't a licensed retailer. If there is a problem, it automatically becomes the buyers fault, not the sellers.
It's not rocket science. Don't look for deals on stuff that counts. Or as you said buyer beware.
How many do? Would that guarantee its safety? Is that usually done for safety reasons or to ensure reliable operation?
Quite often licenses only ensure there has been some contact with a bureaucrat. I have a drivers license, which I qualified for 50 years ago and no one has EVER checked that I still qualify at any time since!

In light of JLM's post about original intended use, wouldn't it be far less dense to change the law to read that it's illegal to BUY or ACCEPT used car seats for use AS car seats? I can think of numerous things to do with a used child car seat that wouldn't even involve disassembling it for parts.
Yeah lawn darts were a hoot. Never killed anyone....took out more than my fair share of screen doors and window screens though.![]()
Buyer beware.

Seller beware of what Health Canada is warning about.Buyer beware.
F!ck health Canada and the nannystatism that infests it.Seller beware of what Health Canada is warning about.
If you have any of the old "Jerry Can" style, I'll take them off your hands right now.Nanny State or not if you are found responsible you get to talk to a lot of lawyers
and the chance to contribute to someone Else's retirement plan in the form of
contribution through legal action.
If we can't have a bloody yard sale though life is fencing us in by our own inaction.
We are just giving in to all kinds of things CDNBear I agree with part of what you
are saying, but the legal aspect must also be considered.
I plan a yard sale in a few years when I'm finished with farming, can't even imagine
not having one. I have so much stuff to dispose of everything from equipment to
old metal gas cans from decades ago. Oh better watch out there is no government
writing on those, they would not likely meet the Canadian Standard for use but a
collector would like to have them I am sure.
