Only a handfull of Canadian airmen (along with the American Eagle Squadron) got to see a German during the Battle of Britain. Canadian troops didn't fight Germans until Dieppe in August 1942 against the Germans. The war had been raging for almost 3 years!

I don't like the fact that in Canada a country that I AM a citizen of) does not have actual "Free Speech". If your speech "offends" someone, or even MIGHT offend someone, you can be brought before a tribunal, fined, and even in extreme cases, jailed.
I don't like the fact that a murderer in Canada can not receive more than 25 years in prison.
But, that does NOT stop me from visiting Canada frequently.
The gun issue is a red herring, and the person that posted this topic knows that full well. You don't like guns, fine. But, how many casual passersby were shot in the USA in the past 20 years? How many tourists were shot? Tis really is not an issue at all.
Personally, I love shooting. I learned to shoot in the US Army back in 1959. I volunteered one day to try out for our Battalion Pistol team (I had never shot a handgun in my life, but it got me out of a detail I didn't want to go on).
It turned out that I had a knack for shooting, and I was selected for the team, given additional training and I ended up shooting on our Battalion Team,. Artillery Group Team, VII Corps Pistol Team, 7th Army Pistol Team and finally the USAREUR (United States Army Europe) Pistol team. I shot Small Bore Pistol .22 Caliber), and I was VERY, VERY good at it.
I owned, at one time in my life, over 200 hand guns. Each and every one of them was registered with the police (in case of theft, etc.) and with the US Army (so I could take them on and off Post). I have fired hundreds of thousands of rounds over the years, primarily at paper targets. I have NEVER fired a handgun at a human being.
I also keep a 12 gauge pump shotgun at my home, for personal defense. If someone breaks in, I don't want to even try to hit them with a pistol round, I want to blow the bastard right through the wall!
I keep all of my weapons locked up, in a large safe, except for that shotgun. My wife, who has been required to utilize a wheelchair for over 40 years, has fired it many times, and she would also use it to protect herself if necessary. I live out in the country, and i am not about to wait for some police officer to arrive while my wife is being raped, or my possessions stolen by a thug. He breaks into MY home, he's meat for the dogs.
Guns do NOT kill people, people kill people. That is actual fact. If you really want to kill someone, you will find a way. An ax is just as deadly as a handgun is.

Given the above.........there is no way you can be OBJECTIVE about the gun issue and will slant the situation to favor gun ownership and all the violence that comes with it.
The things you don't like about Canada are exactly what makes Canada a lot more humanitarian than the US. Canada still tries to stay away from becoming totally savage. in its policies , and ideologies.
