Did you miss that in Sutton's book??
You must have, since you entered this thread claiming the US supplied arms to the Allies and the Germans.
Now I do know you read that link.
Of course I did.

The arms were simply laundered through other countries.
LOL, if you knew any history at all, you would know that the Germans captured and reused arms in other nations.

What did you think my emphasis on the money trail was all about??
Your silly belief in conspiracies.
Those arms got to where they were meant to as did the money.
So the US knew the Germans would over run those nations and capture those weapons?

That is what I mean about slantiness and sleezy in your responses.
I'm not the one making stuff up and being sleazy.

If someone said what a nice blue sky today, I would not expect to get a long argument on the fact that is was really black space or that colors are not really as we see them.
What an excellent example of your closed mind and lack of objectivity.

As I said not worth discussing anything with someone like this.
I agree, but I do it anyways.

Anyways, this is all moot, you already admitted you error. That's all that matters.

Yeah....my point is simple.

China is a quickly-expanding quasi-fascist state.

We are not at war with China.

However, military confrontation with China is, in my opinion, practically inevitable.

So tell me, Blue Bird, should we be trading with China??????

I think not.....but I am in a tiny minority.

If you think so, than to criticize the USA for trading with a nation while they were a neutral is somewhat.....hypocritical.

.................
Yes, I agree, that military confrontation with China is probably inevitable, at least for the US. With all the problems at home why are they poking into China air space with spy planes?? Do you envision Canada supporting such a war?? I don't but who knows, with Harper in office. I want to visit China, like many of my friends and relatives have. It is a spectacular experience apparently. It has existed since at least 7000 plus years BC, it has gone through many governments, rulers, etc taking it to war would be foolish in the extreme in my opinion.

Please note that the most of the world is not at war with China and neither is Canada. I have the idea that the US pledged to support Britain and the Allies. Wouldn't one expect that support would have meant, not lending the same support to their enemies?

Ho hum.... more of the same I see.
Link for how they got those weapons to invade Poland?? They just used bats and pitch forks did they?? According to the Versaille Treaty, they were forbidden to rearm.

No I do not confuse them.... I consider the selling of arms to any nation with a violent history or allowing private industry to do so.... wrong. Worse if as a government it pledged support to the other side at the same time, which the US did and not just after 1941 when was forced to place a ban on such a practice.

You are aware that there are countries that do not separate private industry from government policy in select products in this way. ie Canada. So while you consider it legal, unless the government forbids selling arms only after declaring war, I consider such a policy morally and ethically wrong.

To pledge support to one side and then deal with the equally with the enemy, is dishonourable, despicable.

Geeze, I understand that small minds need quick fixes and electronic snippets to feed on, but that question doesn't have a short answer. Nor is the culmination of WWII history readily available at the click of the mouse.

Which is of course a tremendous part of the problem with who people fill their minds with junk these days. The Internet abounds with crap, as you have so kindly illuminated.

Here's a list of essays, that would be a good start for you to expand your education on pre war Germany. I'm sure you'll be able to respond to them, in no time at all.

Search Example Essays on rearm germany

There are several books I can recommend, but you'll actually have to pay for them.

Your childishness aside, they didn't us US made munitions. They used German made munitions.

You see, if you weren't so busy trying to prove your silly conspiracies, and more interested in facts. You would already know what Hitler thought of the Treaty of Versailles.

So ... how to people south of the border feel about being referred to as "south of the border" ... and what do people from the US mean when they refer to people "south of the border"? I have a funny feeling that when US people talk about people "south of the border" they may think ... perhaps a slightly inferior country/people. When Canadians talk about people "south of the border" we can now think about the financial bickering that destroyed their economy on a global level ... perhaps a slightly inferior country.

I guess handing each of them gun will give them choices that they didn't have before ... what a gift!

The title of this forum is wrong, no one is casually arming the country south of you. There is nothing casual about it, Americans are arming themselves.

In case you have not noticed… Americans are arming themselves. Sales of those rifles the liberals like to refer to as “assault rifles” are so brisk, nationwide, that they are back-ordered for weeks and, in some cases, even months. (In the event you are unfamiliar with the term “Assault Rifle”… the common definition, by liberals and “gun-grabbers” of an assault rifle, is… a rifle that One: Looks scary” and Two: Holds more than five rounds!)

http://westernfrontamerica.com/2009/01/16/americans-arming/
................

Yes and shooting like just happened in Ohio. One dead and 11 wounded, because of a dispute. Two students simply left got their guns and came back shooting.

I wonder how much is due to the atmosphere of fear, brought on by the incredible stupidity of those elected to run the country. Many Americans love their guns but perhaps the recent and not so recent political shinannigans have none gun lovers wanting the biggest, scariest protections they can get.

What a way to settle a dispute...... three lives in the crapper. It is depressing that these are University students. Education apparently doesn't really equal knowledge or common sense does it.

hmmmmm this seem to be coming up against a lot of this lately.

Education never equaled common sense. Considering all the firearms owned privately in the U.S. those random shootings are being done by a very low percentage, in fact that is why they are sensationalized by the news. I know, even one is bad enough.

Owned by Pedro. The US used to be owned by Uncle Sam. I guess the foreign governments now own the US ... but hey, give them USers all another gun ... let's see what they come up with next. Maybe we can bicker about the southern border when Montana decides they'd rather be one of us.

Great gift and they keep coming. From your description of people from South of the border, I would bet you have never been to Mexico let alone met one. As for America's credit rating, S&P Downgraded it to AA+: So what? Here is a little lesson about what really happened.
" Late Friday evening, S&P downgraded the U.S.’s long-term debt rating to AA+ with a negative outlook. If that downgrade has no economic impact, it will fade from the headlines. And that is the most likely scenario.
The downgrade should come as no surprise. On July 25, The Daily Beast quoted me as saying that a downgrade was “inevitable.” And since I am not on Wall Street, I am confident that I was among the last to come to that conclusion.
After all, S&P was telegraphing that it would downgrade the U.S. for weeks when it said it would do so unless it saw a plan to cut the deficit by $4 trillion. Late last month it became quite clear that there would be no plan that big. So investors’ only uncertainty regarding S&P was whether it would follow through on its threat — and it did so, albeit a week later than anticipated.
Behind S&P’s downgrade is an economic model of the U.S.’s fiscal state over the next decade. That S&P model uses a Congressional Budget Office projection of $2.1 trillion in budget reductions over 10 years from the recently passed debt ceiling deal to forecast a rise in the U.S.’s net general government debt-to-GDP ratio."

Opel aircraft & weapons built at the GM subsiduary in Germany with GM financing funnelled through international banks and countries. I understand it was found they were operated with slave labour.

Yes I would imagine that Germans were building weapons in Germany at German factories for the German war machine.

But you said the US was supplying Germany with weapons.

Moving them goalposts again eh?

Henry Ford was an admirer of Hitler, as well. Actual letters from him to Hitler can be found on the web, & in wiki, I believe.

Oh really? More false character assasination. Yeah go check out wiki and see what it says about Ford.

Let's see some of these letters that Ford wrote to Hitler.

The war, I believe according to several of you here, didn't even begin until 1941. So they were a private run force, not connected with the US Government. See that date when the war started for the US works against as well as for an argument.

According to some of us here? The war started for the US in 1941.

What are you babbling about with the Merchant Marines for anyways?

Yes, we are part of NATO .......you know the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Generally speaking it is the US that leads these forces.

No, no, no... CANADA leads the the NATO Bombing Campaign in Libya. FACT.

Face it sugar... Canada is in charge over there... a Canadian General (Canadian Lt. Gen. Charlie Bouchard) and his Canadian staff are running the show. The US and everyone else is just putting bombs and missles where the Canadians tell them too. Us Yanks are just auxiliaries this time.

This one is all yours baby! Yours forever!

Face the Facts Byrd... embrace the horror!

If BP wants light sweet crude it is our responsibilty to go and take it from Libya because Gaddaffi was pumping to much money into his tribe through the National Oil Company. We as Canadians can't **** ourselves over and then let guys like Gaddafi spend oil money on socialist projects and programs. It's wrong and not fair to Canadians to be ****ed over and not Libya as well. Fair is fair in love and oil.

Actually you definitely have a problem with the English language altogether. Is English perhaps not your first language?? You read things into what isn't said and you find things that were never said.

For the Americans the fighting started in 1941, for rest of the world the war began in 1939. Officially the war went from 1939 to 1945 for the World. Do you deny the Americans were not producing arms used in the World war II BEFORE they actually started to fight??

You know some of my friends in their teenage years, used the slimey, slippery manner of discussion. Didn't impress much then and in adult males today, even less.

Exerpt taken from the United States Senate Committe Report on the Judiciary in 1974.

"Ford was also active in Nazi Germany's prewar preparations. In 1938, for instance, it opened a truck assembly plant in Berlin whose "real purpose," according to U.S. Army Intelligence, was producing "troop transport-type" vehicles for the Wehrmacht. That year Ford's chief executive received the Nazi German Eagle (first class)....

The outbreak of war in September 1939 resulted inevitably in the full conversion by GM and Ford of their Axis plants to the production of military aircraft and trucks....On the ground, GM and Ford subsidiaries built nearly 90 percent of the armored "mule" 3- ton half-trucks and more than 70 percent of the Reich's medium and heavy-duty trucks. These vehicles, according to American intelligence reports, served as "the backbone of the German Army transportation system.".... "

How about this??
The Times made a clear distinction between the German monarchist parties and Hitler's anti-Semitic fascist party. Henry Ford, it was noted, ignored the Hohenzollern monarchists and put his money into the Hitlerite revolutionary movement.

These Ford funds were used by Hitler to foment the Bavarian rebellion. The rebellion failed, and Hitler was captured and subsequently brought to trial. In February 1923 at the trial, vice president Auer of the Bavarian Diet testified:

The Bavarian Diet has long had the information that the Hitler movement was partly financed by an American anti-Semitic chief, who is Henry Ford. Mr. Ford's interest in the Bavarian anti-Semitic movement began a year ago when one of Mr. Ford's agents, seeking to sell tractors, came in contact with Diedrich Eichart, the notorious Pan-German. Shortly after, Herr Eichart asked Mr. Ford's agent for financial aid. The agent returned to America and immediately Mr. Ford's money began coming to Munich.
Herr Hitler openly boasts of Mr. Ford's support and praises Mr. Ford as a great individualist and a great anti-Semite. A photograph of Mr. Ford hangs in Herr Hitler's quarters, which is the center of monarchist movement.
6
Hitler received a mild and comfortable prison sentence for his Bavarian revolutionary activities. The rest from more active pursuits enabled him to write Mein Kampf. Henry Ford's book, The International Jew, earlier circulated by the Nazis, was translated by them into a dozen languages, and Hitler utilized sections of the book verbatim in writing Mein Kampf.7

So, I suppose the Times and the US Senate Committee got it all wrong too?? Personally I don't give a hoot if the US only started actual fighting in 1941, their industries put money ahead of their country's welfare. Sometimes chasing the dollar is tantamount to down right treason, in my opinion

Tractors?? nah, heavy duty trucks, military aircraft, armoured 1/2 tons trucks, medium and heavy duty ones as well. Besides a 4 wheel drive, heavy duty tractor with airconditioned cab, blade attached front & back is pretty formidable. Do not approach carelessly.

Remember the salesman was only trying to sell tractors, got to deliver much more though.

LOL, getting a bit desperate are we??
Do you have a mouse in your pocket? Where do you get this we from?

Essays?? You do know essays are not bound to illustrate truth or even reality.
True, but all those essays come with completely traceable bibliographies. Something Sutton needs to learn how to do right.

In fact, they do not even need to reflect what the writer believes. The rules are : A beginning, A middle and an ending. You can write on how the Grinch stole Christmas if you wish.
Nah, I leave fiction to you.

I read what I enjoy these days, between 2 -3 books a week.
Fiction being your fave.

What is it with you???
I like playing with people that lie.

You have heard of verbal abuse haven't you??
Yes. I hope you aren't about to cry that you're being verbally abused. That would simply be pathetic.

I mean "cowardly" "Childish" "Silly" Give it a rest.
Why? I can prove each of those claims.

I've asked you three times now to prove your claims that my prejudices are clearly evident in my posts.

Yes, I do know what Hitler thought about the treaty.......
Then why did you ask that stupid question?

AND he had help getting around it but hey it couldn't be from those who are and always were, the biggest gun producers and sellers in the world could it??
Getting around it? He ran right through it!

You already conceded that the US did not supply munitions to Germany. Why are you dragging it up again?

For heavens sake retire from the fray, with at least a modicum of dignity intact.
My dignity is fully intact. I'm the only one that hasn't resorted to lies and unsupportable character attacks, unlike you.

Advice due to go unheeded I am sure.
I make it a rule to not heed absurd advice, based on lies and innuendo.

Where did I deny that? Moving the goal posts I see.

I denied that we were selling weapons to the Germans during WWII. You still can't tell me what weapons.

"Ford was also active in Nazi Germany's prewar preparations. In 1938, for instance, it opened a truck assembly plant in Berlin whose "real purpose," according to U.S. Army Intelligence, was producing "troop transport-type" vehicles for the Wehrmacht. Troop transport type vehicles... so a Ford plant was building TRUCKS. Who would have thought!

One would expect that a nations industry would be switched to produce military goods during a war. Canada's industry did... the US did. Why wouldn't the Germans?

How about this??

How about this??

Ford had long opposed war and continued to believe that international business could generate the prosperity that would head off wars; when World War II erupted in 1939 he said the people of the world had been duped.[44] Like many other businessmen of the Great Depression era, he never liked or entirely trusted the Franklin Roosevelt Administration. He was not, however, active in the isolationist movement of 1939–41, and he supported the American war effort and realized the need to support Britain with weapons to fight the Nazis. He "lined up behind the war effort" when the U.S. entered in late 1941, and the company became a major component of the "Arsenal of Democracy."[45]

Have a nice day!

"Yes, we are part of NATO .......you know the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Generally speaking it is the US that leads these forces." My comment.

Again, Please point out where I DENIED Canada was leading this time. What about GENERALLY do you not understand. Talk about take liberties with the truth.

So, you don't deny, that the US sat on it's rump during the first three years of the WORLD WAR, and dealt with both sides?? How typical of an American to feel a World War only begins when they are attacked. It took actual bombing of the US to make you guys get off your cowardly asses and get involved. Making too much bloody money before that happened right??

After all it was legal and there was money to be made. By the way, your link on Ford is decades out of date. Try mine, it cites proof coming from your own government files, amongst other sources.

LOL....It was GM's & Ford's plants in Germany, that were put into full production. Canada never had miltiary plants in Germany, after all we were fighting the Nazi's from 1939.
