I just thought of something that would really piss Iran off:
Any Iranian coming to Canada would:
1. be required to present a valid Iranian passport or profess the Baha'i Faith or other persecuted Faith, to the Canadian border agent inspecting him, but would not require any visa, whether for transiting, travel, business, work or study for any length of time,
2. Should he profess the Baha'i Faith or some other persecuted Faith, he could of course claim refugee status, and
3. Should he simply present a valid Iranian passport, he'd have to sing a public petition, in his own name, demanding that the UN take action to protect Iran's Baha'is and members of other persecuted minority Faith communities from persecution.
This would put all Iranian Shi'as in a bind in that either they would not be allowed into Canada or would be required to sign a petition putting them at odds with the Iranian regime.
We could add to this that all Iranian merchants in Iran who belong to a persecuted Faith community or who sign this petition would be granted free trade with Canada, while all others would be sanctioned, the choice being entirely theirs of course.
