"Canada Day" or "Dominion Day"

Another thing that got screwed up during Trudeau's watch. "Dominion Day" was a perfectly good name as we are a dominion and this is just another case of some a$$hole changing something for the sake of change. "Canada Day" in my mind just lacks any imagination. Anyone else with ideas?

I am not sure about that. Doesn't "Dominion" infer that Canada is still controlled by Britain?

Royal bank goes by Royal Bank in the US. TD became TD when they bought out CanadaTrust.

Actually is was TD before that as well. The name TD comes from the merger of two banks - the Bank of Toronto and the Dominion Bank of Canada.

participating in protests (that changed nothing),
Apart from the fact that that is irrelevant. Do you have proof of that?

joining the armed forces (nothing more than puppets for the rich elite) these are largely irrelevant or terribly miniscule ... .... ..
That's a flawed opinion, there are thousands of Muslims that would likely disagree.

Absolutely nothing wrong with socialism...
I agree, in moderation. But what you think is socialism, is actually fascist socialism.

There's a world of difference.

Meanwhile the current government whose base is in the west is now getting closer to China-just as repressive as the USSR and cheating Newfoundland out of their oil money too. They also have created quite the deficit. Amazing the similarities.
Amazing how some people forget it was the Liberals that unrestrained, danced into Beijing, arms open, mouths shut.

Read the Canadian Constitution, the supreme law of the land.
You're kidding right?

Natural resources are owned by the province.
Irrelevant when discussing the clown prince of Canadian fascist socialism.

He gave Canada an identity by his own personna.
What utter bullsh!t.

Better than the warmonger non descriptive vanilla , US wannabe we have in power now. We who reside here are all CANADIANS......
Really? Can you name the only PM that suspended the rights of all Canadians? The only PM to invoke an act that had union leaders in Naniamo BC arrested without cause?

I find it monumentally hilarious, that many of CC's left leaning members find PET to be God like, while they harp on about the fascist right. Especially given the fact, that he was the only Canadian PM to ever commit the most fascist act in Canadian domestic history.

I imagine a protest with you involved in it would look like this

They would agree that they're puppets for the rich elite , to use the soldiers to forcibly suppress and kill abroad for their interests.

Wow, I've only said that I'm Canadian a hundred times, my very nic is CDN (= Canadian) Bear. Not to mention, I'm not white. And yet you think a white American protester, with your level of education, was the most appropriate image?

And given your poor spelling, and grammar, your pic is simply as hypocritical as your recent whining about neg reps.

Your issues and hypocrisy, know no bounds.

My apologies, I missed placing the word "Bosnian" in front of Muslim.

But hey, you've had your erroneous knowledge of global issues and history so thoroughly thrashed, that fact is irrelevant anyways.

I think it's too bad that we've moved away from the style "Dominion Day."

The fact of the matter is that the 1st of July is the anniversary of when we did -- properly so -- become an oversees Dominion of the British Empire. We certainly were not fully independent at the time, but it was one of the major steps along the way to where we are now. We are fooling ourselves and whitewashing our British history by changing the style to "Canada Day," and this is unfortunate both for youth and for newer Canadians. To understand where we want to go, we need to understand where we've been -- and that's certainly not the case at this time. Just look at how many Canadians incorrectly answer the "head of State question" with the prime minister.

Celebrating Dominion Day wouldn't surrender any of the autonomy that we have now achieved. In my view, rather, a celebration of Dominion Day would be a recognition of the peaceful way in which Canada has evolved from a dependent colony of the United Kingdom, to a self-sufficient dominion, and now to an independent kingdom in its own right. Our constitutional roadmap has a number of checkpoints marking this transition -- and our Confederation as a Dominion, on the first of July, 1867, is one of the most prominent of these.

The picture was a good resemblance of your intelligence and the people you surround yourself with, I don't think you're a white American protester. More brilliance from this guy, thumbs down deserved and my point well proven.
What about Bosnian Muslims? NATO along with Amerikkka ruined their homeland why would you bring them up?

As Lone pointed out, could be a local colloquialism.

Google colloquialism to find out what it means.

Yes, I am already well aware of the fact that you have a limited capability of formulating reasoned responses.

What about Bosnian Muslims? NATO along with Amerikkka ruined their homeland why would you bring them up?
I love it when my predictions come true.

But hey, you've had your erroneous knowledge of global issues and history so thoroughly thrashed, that fact is irrelevant anyways.

Thanx for that.

Still the hypocrite, I see.

Providing 'safe havens' in Bosnia - CBC Archives

Like I said before, facts are iorrelevant when it comes to discussions with the likes of you. Your grasp of history is so limited and what you do actually know, so distorted. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

From your link
there's a problem: the refugees they are supposed to protect don't want them there.

lol, indeed.

Thankfully today, they are still alive to maintain that sentiment, because of Canadian Soldiers. A fact you haven't the comprehension skills to grasp.

Again, your grasp of history as limited and skewed as it is, would be funny, if it wasn't so pathetic.

Maybe from Bawston and spellin' it with local flavour....

LOL. Hey there watch it Wolf! As a Bostonian, "morons " can't be said anyother way then as it is spelled.

And just because we speak in an accent doesn't mean we think in one... or spell. And no respectful Bostonian would be wearing a Cardinals shirt.

LOL, I like how you think Amerikkka and NATO know more about what the Bosnian's need more than the Bosnians.

I also like how you think Amerikkka gives a flying **** about Bosnia... so naive, so very naive.

To which Clinton had to be dragged kicking and screaming into bombing the crap out of them. The images of surrendering European NATO troops being chained to targets was too much.

It was the bombing of the Serbs that stopped the slaughter of the Muslims in the former Republic of Yugoslavia. You need another history lesson.

I don't think they needed to be rounded up, shot, and buried in mass graves.
