It went from 16% to 12% to 6%. We now have the lowest corporate taxes AND the lowest resource royalties with some of the highest personal income tax out of ALL the G nations.

Why?
you'll find variable rates from 22% to 16.5% to 11% PRE total perks which average to 6%.

Resource? Harper is handing out mineral rights and timber limits like they're candy. How long does foreign investment stay when those resources are gone? One is just as bad as the other. It's the fanatic 'yes people' who support them that are the problem

OK, let me explain it to you.

You have 10,000 $. You give away 5000 % as tax cuts for the rich. Now you have only 5000$.

You spend 15,000 $. Since you only had 5000 $, that leaves you with a deficit of 10,000 $. That is conservative economics for you.
So is this $10,000 you budget or is it your total cash supply?

Well, that's leaving out the annual tax income...because, in your original post, you mentioned that you increased spending from $10,000 to $15,000, so there must have been $10,000 in income that you didn't mention. So you start out with $10000, have $10000 in income, give out $5000 in tax cuts, and spend $15000.

Net result of zero.

Stop thinking of it as money and start thinking of it as hours of hard labour and you'll value it far more and would never allow shysters to squander it without them fearing your wrath. Does the Govt fear your wrath? Yes or no?

"He increased spending every year he has been in office, gave tax cuts mostly to the rich and now he has a deficit in excess of 30 billion $."

So he's returning it to the people who financed the surplus in the first place- seems like a decent thing to do.

Well, let me give you a different math. You have 10,000 $ pile. You give away 5000 in tax cuts mostly for the rich, you increase spending from 10,000 to 15,000 $ run a deficit of 10,000 $ and call it a sound economic management. At least that is how conservative economics works.

I think you just personified the one of the root causes of Liberal phobia. The "pile" of money came from where in the first place?

"Then more power to you. Why should you (or anybody) pay more taxes than they have to?"

Make up your mind, first you are screaming for more taxes, now you say we should pay minimal taxes.

Liberal phobia prevents clear-headed thinking.

JLM - It is labour that they play with not money. Did the rich do more physical labour and now will have to do less?

What is rich any? I have lots of ****, 3 properties, several vehicles and my grand kids probably won't have to work nearly as hard as I do. Does that make me rich or does it mean I've stuck some serious labour into the future of my family?

Only around election time. The rest of the time, why should the gov't care about us being pissed?

That would all depend on which part of the food chain you inhabit
I haven't figured which part I fit in yet. I look at it more like a buffet rather than a chain I'm both blue and white collar, have a gorgeous renovated home in the worst neighbourhood in town, I love driving my 20 year old truck more than my new car or truck, my wife and kid both work but don't need to, I play Mozart while driving my tractor. Will pay $30 for a hamburger so I don't have to deal with kids and their ****ty drunk parents while I eat but volunteer at a soup kitchen twice a week when I'm home from work. But I could retire tomorrow and do what I please the rest of my life If I wanted.

I don't know if I'm rich or poor or just played it smart and covered my own ass?

I'd suggest that if you are happy and having fun, you are rich.
A friend just got back from Cuba where people are not very well off. The thing is the Cubans appeared to be a very happy people.

"He stole it from education and health care"

Yep, the heaviest subsidized portfolios in Gov't.
Oil is the heaviest subsidized portfolio the Govt has it's hands in. We are lucky to break even.

An educated and healthy populous is a working and happy populous and that always falls in the black side of the column.
