I'll try not to go in circles here........but I already said I disagreed with much of what Harper stands for.....

Except for proroguing parliment...that's okay...with questions about torture, massive record breaking deficits and war casualties piling up.

Who needs complicated things like questions.

as for " selling out his principles", well, all I can say is the FIRST thing you learn in Poly Sci 101 is that principled parties always LOSE in a democracy. Because to stand for a principle means you alienate a certain part of the population.....the more principles you have, the greater number of folks that will never vote for you....so successful politicians, by definition, are unprincipled. Unfortunate, but as Churchill said "Democracy is the worst of all possible systems....except for all the rest." Man was a genius.

So selling out is okay.....as long as you're a politician? You said Reform were the answer and they were the same....so much for not going in circles.:p

Still..... No Viable Alternative....pick the best of the worst. And because of their stance on foreign affairs, gun control, the Global Warming idiocy, etc etc....Harper and the CPC are the best. In my eyes, anyway.

Then in this case I vote for the local candidate and I will never ever vote for Flarhety.......ever.

BTW I have voted for a heck of a lot of parties......The NDP for years (believe it or not) the PCs, Reform, Canadian Alliance, and the Conservative Party of Canada.......I hardly follow any party blindly....why I even voted Liberal (McKenna) provincially....once. lol.

Wow, that's messed up, reform to the NDP or vice versa? Should I call you Sybil from now on?

Why would picking and choosing who to vote for be messed up? It makes more sense to go according to whomever's platform you like the most rather than blindly stick to some party just because. Suppose you were supporting the Acme Party and only voted for them. The one election year their platform decided that the age of majority should be 5 years old and 90% of everyone's income should go to the gov't? THAT would be messed up, IMO, not choosing whoever had the most sensible platform.

I think that I am more disgusted with ourselves, 'the people', because we expect our democracy to run itself. We don't do anything. We are kinda lazy and apathetic and usually only have enough energy to run our mouths off acting like having an opinion is good enough. The reason why things are so crappy is because we have allowed it to be that way.

I'm not trying to be mean. I just think it's the truth.

like voting maybe?

Speak for yourself. I donate many dollars and hours each year to my local Conservative candidates provincially and federally. Federally we have the best government since '93 but my current provincial government sucks the big one.

Hey, I think the money would be a lot better spent if you sent it to Childrens' HOspital, World Vision or the Salvation Army than giving it to those bandits.

Good for you Walter..

At minimum, you are trying to be involved in the political system.

I've donated to at least two of them plus one or two more in the past six months, it's been 25 years since I've squandered any money on politicians.........:lol::lol::lol:

P.S. - that should read "voluntary" money.

While I agree with JLM on corrupt politicians I must say..

I can think of a few good politicians that money was well spent on.. Chuck Cadman come to mind although I would never hand his widow a penny..

I would prefer to think of politicians in the view of who will take the least out of my wallet while working hard for his / her constituents. Then I look at who will fill their pockets the most..

So you prefer massive debt, recessions and illegal wars over prosperity, sound fiscal managment and the ability to think for yourself?

So typical of a guvmint employee.

Yep, Chuck honestly tried to work for the good of the people. Too bad he was taken so soon. Funny but I had similar thoughts about his widow.

I have volunteered for both the provincial and federal conservative parties. What the provincial fiberals are doing in Ontario is outrageous. As an aside. both the liberal candidates (federal and provincial) in my riding ran corrupt campaigns.
