[/SIZE]George Zimmerman: Prelude to a shooting

(Reuters) - A pit bull named Big Boi began menacing George and Shellie Zimmerman in the fall of 2009.
The first time the dog ran free and cornered Shellie in their gated community in Sanford, Florida, George called the owner to complain. The second time, Big Boi frightened his mother-in-law's dog. Zimmerman called Seminole County Animal Services and bought pepper spray. The third time he saw the dog on the loose, he called again. An officer came to the house, county records show.

"Don't use pepper spray," he told the Zimmermans, according to a friend. "It'll take two or three seconds to take effect, but a quarter second for the dog to jump you," he said.

"Get a gun."

That November, the Zimmermans completed firearms training at a local lodge and received concealed-weapons gun permits. In early December, another source close to them told Reuters, the couple bought a pair of guns. George picked a Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm handgun, a popular, lightweight weapon.

By June 2011, Zimmerman's attention had shifted from a loose pit bull to a wave of robberies that rattled the community, called the Retreat at Twin Lakes. The homeowners association asked him to launch a neighborhood watch, and Zimmerman would begin to carry the Kel-Tec on his regular, dog-walking patrol - a violation of neighborhood watch guidelines but not a crime.
Few of his closest neighbors knew he carried a gun - until two months ago.

On February 26, George Zimmerman shot and killed unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin in what Zimmerman says was self-defense. The furor that ensued has consumed the country and prompted a re-examination of guns, race and self-defense laws enacted in nearly half the United States.

During the time Zimmerman was in hiding, his detractors defined him as a vigilante who had decided Martin was suspicious merely because he was black. After Zimmerman was finally arrested on a charge of second-degree murder more than six weeks after the shooting, prosecutors portrayed him as a violent and angry man who disregarded authority by pursuing the 17-year-old.
But a more nuanced portrait of Zimmerman has emerged from a Reuters investigation into Zimmerman's past and a series of incidents in the community in the months preceding the Martin shooting.

Based on extensive interviews with relatives, friends, neighbors, schoolmates and co-workers of Zimmerman in two states, law enforcement officials, and reviews of court documents and police reports, the story sheds new light on the man at the center of one of the most controversial homicide cases in America.

The 28-year-old insurance-fraud investigator comes from a deeply Catholic background and was taught in his early years to do right by those less fortunate. He was raised in a racially integrated household and himself has black roots through an Afro-Peruvian great-grandfather - the father of the maternal grandmother who helped raise him.

Source: HLN news. ON TV. Zimmermans lawyer has set up a website....with the supposed purpose to present facts and encourage feedback from the general public. Suspect that contributions for the defense are part of this.

The legal methods are changing and using the WWW to their advantage. Interesting new dynamic.

Has any one seen the cleaned up Zimmerman. One would think this is Hollywood......when one sees him dressed up in what looks like a very good suit. tie, and fresh hair cut. ( the donations for his "defense" on his website.....was nothing short of brilliant". )

Defense is all about the image presented and his lawyer is working legal magic with nuance , image and controlling what his client says .

This case is worthy of legal precidence and will make the lawyer a household name.

........interesting on many levels.

Third Employee Fired After Another Edited George Zimmerman 911 Tape Surfaces

And then there were three.

A third NBC employee has been fired from the network after yet another misleadingly edited George Zimmerman 911 tape surfaced from the Trayvon Martin shooting.

Lilia Luciano, a Miami-based correspondent, “is no longer working for the network,” TVNewser reports. Her firing follows the axing of an NBC producer who edited the original 911 call that caused so much controversy as well as a local NBC reporter, Jeff Burnside, who was found to have used a similarly-edited recording.

TVNewser explains what happened with the latest incident:

Please, Colpy, just stop.

On June 27, 2011, Trayvon asks a friend online, "unow a connect for codien?" He tells the friend that "robitussin nd soda" could make "some fire ass lean." He says, "I had it before" and that he wants "to make some more." On the night of February 26, if Brandy had some Robitussin at home, Trayvon had just bought the mixings for one "fire ass lean" cocktail.

How is that relevant to the question before the coursts? The argument of the article is how improperly the media has portrayed the two individuals in the case, at a time when it is already in court, and they attempt to remedy this situation by doing exactly what they accuse others of doing?

The system tried its damnedest to cover it up and have a self defence plea.
The law did what it could, but justice might actually prevail here. This guy
is as guilty as hell and no matter which way you slice it, he will be found,
Guilty.
This guy lied about being scared, he had a gun. He followed the kid and the
911 tape demonstrates that. Once he set out to take action he was no longer
covered by self defence, in the minds of many.
Personally, if I was walking down the street, and someone other than a police
officer with ID, I would not take kindly to being stopped. Oh its is true someone
can attempt to stop you, but then what? If you are armed or displaying a manner
of being in authority without the proper credentials, I would likely take you on too.
This kid wasn't guilty of anything except talking to his girlfriend on the phone.
Who was Zimmerman to think he was so privileged? Without credentials he is
a nobody. If he became aggressive with me I would fight him no doubt.

That's EXACTLY what a racist would say.
;)
A double negative like that IS a DEFINITE tacit admission of guilt.
