Liberalman, it is a banner day.

I completely agree.

Unless they have a bunch more evidence than is in the public eye, or they can brow-beat the unfortunate Zimmerman into a plea-bargain..........any sane jury will find him not guilty.

And the country will burn.

What I want to know is how they plan on finding an impartial jury. They need to find 12 people that have been living under a rock this whole time. Can a person like that really be considered anybody's peer?

I really don't think there is any justice left to be had in this whole ordeal.

Judge too for that matter. Do you think a judge will have the balls to actually apply the "Stand Your Ground" clause (or even objectivly look at if it does apply) and dismiss this before a jury trial? I think the judge will throw it to the jury this washing his/her hands of it.

Actually, I've seen judges apply the law consistently despite disbelieving in its righteousness. Of course, I've also seen preaching and judge-mentalism (lol). It is quite possible that a fair judge could be found, however, I'm sure you are right.

Until they start watching the wrong guy and then they are on the slab at the morgue.

A phone with a quality zoom lens would do the trick as long as it was sent to HQ as soon as it was taken.

That is the same action citizens are getting beat up for when they film the police, everybody should sign up then. but include the police as the ones being filmed and their Boss has the pics before the end of the Officers shift.

It may have been different had he chased the 4th and caught him and killed him once the 'imminent threat to life and limb' has passed which is as soon as the guy started to run away.

Which would be the correct path for citizens to take? Learn how to fight with a knife or learn how to fight better with a bat or gun so a knife is the loser?

non-lethal is still better, paint-balls that are solid would kill if it hit the eye, any other place it would hurt like hell. If pepper spray is not there vinegar would do the same (maybe even worse if the neutralizer is withheld after the person has been hog-tied)

Isn't this what the whole fuking deal is about? If a black kid with a hoodie scares you, you're allowed to shoot him.

Surely if that's the case, rioters are fair game. Unless you're only allowed to shoot unarmed kids trying to walk around a 'good' neighborhood where their family lives.

Yep, you are allowed to shoot him......as long as he is banging your head off the pavement at the time.

I'm going to disagree with you Colpy on the principle that Zimmerman created the confrontation. We know he saw Trayvon Martin and called 911. We know he was advised to return to his home and let the police deal with Martin, yet he disregared that advice. In essence by following the kid, he triggered the series of event that led to the shooting. He wasn't just a random passerby, that Martin went off on for no reason: if someone was following me, I'd be on edge and possibly pissed off about it too. If I see evidence of a gun... well flight is the first option but fight is #2.

I've said before I am not an expert on Florida law but from my understanding of Canadian law, Zimmerman's course of action takes him at least into Manslaughter territory...

First of all, it is not illegal to approach someone on the street.
Secondly, the extremely mild statement of the dispatcher was in no way legally binding on Zimmerman.
Third, Zimmerman was recognized by the community as having security responsibilities in the gated community,
Fourth, in the 9-11 call, Zimmerman says (before he confronted Martin) "He ran"...........he then continues talking with the dispatcher in a clear voice, unhindered by heavy breathing. If he was chasing a 6' plus tall, 160 lb, 17 year old football player, he is the most fit 5'9" tall, 240 lb guy with asthma I ever heard of!!!!
