Wasn't one idea called Cascadia which involved AB, BC and Washington/Oregon - something like that? Now that was intriguing concept at the time. With the current BC that wouldn't likely hold water now. But there was merit in the concept from what I remember. Just don't know if it would hold any water now.

It wouldn't work worth a damn for Canada which would lose its access to the Pacific!

Still very much alive. Not gaining much traction that I can see though. Depending who is doing the dog&pony show at the time Alaska is included as well. Sometimes there is a call for everything West of Ontario to become 1.

BC doesn't have the money to buy out Federal Ports.

Feds can take their ports off our land.

Are you so sure that the US is going to welcome turncoats into their federation so readily, particularly when the separatist's biggest gripe is that they don't get enough MONEY-MONEY-MONEY back from the federation that they're in now? Who's to say that they won't stab the US in the back, too? Some of the Americans, anyway, will realize that they can't ever trust your loyalty if it's so easily bought and sold.

They might make Alberta another Puerto Rico, take the US dollar and passport but stay outside.

Some of the richest americans bring their family and children to ontario for the summers.
;)
It's because in many ways, Ontario is what they wish they had down there.

There are some pretty profound cultural differences noticeable between Canada and the USA when you cross the Ontario into New York or Michigan. We speak different dialects of the sane language but it is pretty obvious that they are distinct countries with different beliefs and cultures.

Petros blah-blahs like he has some experience of the world but it seems that he has little direct experience of this part of the world.

THERE!!!!! RIGHT THERE IN BLACK AND WHITE IN THE MESSAGE ABOVE by Curious Cdn is the answer to Alberat or any other separatist!!!!

Its ALL about money and the separatists WILL NOT get a better deal from Yankees than from Ottawa! And they will not be getting any better a deal on their gross debts than Quebec separatists did!

Cdn separatists should count up the yways they will be going short if they try to become Yankees: such as IMMEDIATE LOSS of gvot health care! Such as immediate introduction of Bovine Growth Hormone into your milk and cheese. Such as vastly REDUCED influence on federal govt- the B.C. premier is one of TEN provincial leaders- and I do not count Nunavut- but a B.C. state governor would be one of 50 or more state governors- with California having more voters and thus more influence than all of current Canada!

Watching Cdns whine about separation is like watching a neurotic 1960`s housewife whine about going home to Mother- and MOm does not want her whiny SPOILED daughter !
