Just like it is just as useless to argue against those who blindly accept the official story fed to them by governments, media and military/industrial complex.
Quite possibly so, I wouldn't know. I don't blindly accept things.

"I can’t tell you how many times people ask me about the conspiracy of the Bilderberg Group. It is a conference I’ve occasionally been invited to and have attended once or twice.
If only the people who wrote the alarmist treatises on the Bilderberg Group were allowed in. They would be so utterly disappointed. It’s just a conference like dozens of others around the world. And anyway, the idea that a finance minister or a banker would say something with a group of 150 people that is any different than what he would say in public is crazy in today's world where everything leaks instantly. In my experience, they say the same fairly banal platitudes inside as they say outside.
So on the few occasions in my life when I’ve been inside centers of the conspiracy, I’ve been disappointed and relieved to find they were pretty much like the world on the outside."
Why do we embrace conspiracy theories? – Global Public Square - CNN.com Blogs
conspiracies are fun. Like, for example, the russians are planning an invasion of canada's north.
wait, what's the difference between possible and probable again?
Even a horrendous idea that their own government (for example) is one hundred percent evil is, from what I can gather, some sort of twisted comfort because it provides an explanation.
Conspiracy theories are pretty much the modern day religion. In times past, when things happened that were cataclysmic or of major consequence, people blamed it on the gods / God. Nowadays, people blame it on a worldwide conspiracy of rich and powerful men.
There is little to distinguish modern conspiracy theories from old religions, and there is just as much point in trying to argue against them.
Quite possibly so, I wouldn't know. I don't blindly accept things.
I'm not sure which is worse. People who blindly accept the official story fed to them by governments, media and military/industrial complex or the people who believe governments, media and military/industrial complex have magic wands and can fix anything even if they deliberately broke it.
I have no evidence of God, I do have evidence of rich and powerful men trying to get richer and more powerful! ;-)
You said there was no difference between old conspiracy theories based upon religion and modern theories based upon rich & powerful men trying to take over. I would argue that lack of evidence of one vs actual eveidence of the other is a huge difference. So do I, but that has nothing to do with what I said.
I think people that embrace conspiracy theories have a need for stability. It's easier to believe that somebody is in control and it makes the alternative of randomness and unpredictability seem less likely. In their minds, things will continue much the same as it already is because somebody wants it that way. It's a comforting thought if you are where you want to be and while most conspiracy supporters would admit it, they are comfortable with the status quo.
Wrong - The RSM would boot your Officers ass down the freaking hallway, call the Adj and tell him that in no uncertain terms that he WAS to read you the riot act - Think again -
Conspiracy Theory is a science as old as philosophy. Youse airheads can make jokes about conspiracy because you don't know what you're talking about. Conspiracy rules the goddamn planet and you can't find any, go home, it's almost dark, your mothers will be worried.

Exactly the same as the need to believe in a religion.
It surely rules your planet.
Exactly the same as the need to believe in a religion.
I suppose that those who do believe in religion and donate to the various temples to stupidity that they frequent on their days of rest do so in the mistaken belief that they belong to churches that do not exist. It's not hard for me to believe in the Pope and his established proven religion so I'm puzzeled why you refuse to acknowledge it's existence. If your befuddled about the reality of religion why should anyone pay any attention to your village innocent ideas about conspiracy?
