Funny how most people seem to think it's the U.S. who STARTS wars isn't it?
More revisionist history from the haters.

Who started the Iraq war in 2003? I thought it was an unprovoked attack by the Americans justified by lies about 9/11 and WMDs..... After WW II, the Allies executed people for starting unprovoked wars of aggression.More revisionist history from the haters.
And the Japanese were sitting at home in their rice fields- Not in China- not in Korea. Oh yes are you aware that the Japanese made their final decision on Pearl- It was either Russia or PH. The Russians had a spy net in Japan and their master spy had this information just after the decision was made. It was radioed to Russia and enabled Russia to move divisions to Moscow at the last minute- Saved Moscow. Seems Stalin did not pass along the info. The trigger for Pearl Harbor was the US embargo. If the Japanese didn't start a war with the US, their fleet would have ran out of oil in a year.
Embargoes are potentially acts of war. Something the US apparently hasn't learned. The US led embargo against Iran could blow up in a similar manner.
Regarding dropping the bomb... few people understood the destructive power of nuclear weapons at the time. From Truman's viewpoint, it was just a bigger bomb similar to other bombs. It wasn't until after the post bomb images of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, along with reports of a mysterious illness (radiation poisoning) that the true nature of nuclear weapons began to sink in.
There is a huge lesson to be learned here, both for regimes and for individuals..................when you start something negatively aggressive you should first consider how much you have to lose. Once the gloves are off we don't start picking and choosing!

Embargoes are not acts of war under international law.
A funny part is that some of these Canadians think (or ignore the fact) that they weren't involved in the development of the Atomic Bombs and the Manhattan Project.

Although one guy awhile ago in here said they helped develop the non-lethal part of the bombs... the Uranium! lol
Trying to teach EAO is an excerise in futility- The US is the cause of all ills in his view of world events. Ooopps then the Jews.
Well sometimes he reverses it to the Jews then the US -
I'm not defending Imperial Japan. I'm just saying that that the US embargo gave Japan few options. If they didn't attack their war machine would have ran out of oil in a year. The US and UK controlled enough of the world's oil that Japan had 2 choices. Either give up their imperial ambitions or attack the US. Pearl Harbor should have been expected.
If the US faced the same choice as Japan, I'm pretty sure they'd start a war rather too.
Also, the US didn't care about China. The embargo tightened after Japan signed the Tripartite Pact with Germany and Italy. How many Chinese people Japan slaughtered was far less of a consideration.
I notice every time I post something on any subject, you change the topic into a personal attack against me. That's trolling and against forum rules. Please stick to the topic and stop being a troll.

Tough sh*t, if things don't change here in a year I'm going to run out of money and my wife is going to leave. No problem, I'm just going to go rob my neighbour and screw his wife!
JLM- Drop the polite bit for now- Tell us how you really feel................
I am sure you are familiar with how the Japanese have sanitized their actions and atrocities in school text books. The Japanese killed thirteen million Chinese civilians during WWII. The desire for revenge still smolders among the Chinese people.

Hong Kong went under the gun the same day. Little buggers really got around with meyhem on their mindsSo easy for a Monday Morning QB to say an attack on Pearl should have been expected.
An attack was expected... in the Phillipines... not Hawaii.
The US simply wasn't going to fuel the Japanese war machine any longer. The US cared about a lot of things especially the slaughter of Chinese. Japanese aggression had gone too far.
Prior to 1776 who was to blame for all the worlds ills and wars. 4 letters- 1st capitalized- Can be 2 different words-both mean the same, one is a slur. The quiz is on.........................
Is the first one a "J"?
