Started reading "Band of Brothers" last night...I'll finish it today sometime.
I think I already like it more than the minie series..
Years ago I read the book "Papillon" first then was disapointed when I watched the movie....

Yeah....you just can't pack all the important and interesting stuff from a book into a movie of any sane length.......

Interesting tale about disaffected people in New England. Very truthful portrayal of what are very real people.

Catherine the Great, by Robert Massie

This guy can really write fascinating history. He is best known for Nicholas and Alexandria, from which a movie was made.

His book Peter the Great was serialized for television.

If you like that book, then you might like two other historical tomes written by Mr. Massie - Dreadnought and Peter the Great. As you say, he writes fascinating history.

"RMS Titanic-A Model Makers Guide" I havent built a model in awhile so I got this to make sure I can get it as accurate as possible.

Also reading George Grant's "Lament for a Nation." I've been meaning to read it for several years but never got around to it. Now its required reading for a course which works for me. Depressing book.
