It’s become increasingly clear that former prime minister Stephen Harper’s supposed “war on science” was little more than a myth concocted by special interests and furthered by the media.
In a memo obtained by Postmedia, the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada – the union for scientists -- complains the Trudeau government is continuing the communications policy started by the Harper government.
Although it doesn’t seem like Trudeau’s continuing Harper’s war, because other evidence suggests there wasn’t much of one to begin with.
(The Harper govt did not fight science-they merely fought the civil service Working Family Hogs who sought endless new entitlements and huge new wage increases and golden pensions that we cannot afford. But it suited the Hogs to suggest that Conservatives were red-necks. But the hypocrisy of LIE-beral loving news in spreading this propaganda is an ominous threat to our democracy. When the `truth` is `managed` and `selected` by special interest groups-we ALL lose!)
As Postmedia's David Akin writes: “Data quietly tabled in the House of Commons earlier this summer suggests that Harper's ‘muzzle’ appeared to be ineffective. That data shows that federal government scientists gave nearly 1,500 media interviews in the 12 months prior to last October’s election.”
But not only has the Trudeau government not significantly changed its communications policies for scientists, it does not appear to have found any need to go out and hire many of them.
A pre-budget forecast published by Statistics Canada earlier this year had one department -- Environment and Climate Change Canada — losing 11% of its scientists. That would have been the biggest, year-over-year cut in science jobs at that department ever. Officials say that, with the budget boost the department got, those numbers won’t be so bad but they still won’t say what the numbers are.
(It should be clear by now that LIE-berals and Hogs DO NOT CARE ABOUT FACTS- what they want is ENTITLEMENTS! Their foolish carbon crap and trade program will not clear the air-it will ONLY empty our wallets! Hog scientists slammed the Harper govt for ignoring the wretched Kyoto Accord with its economy crippling demands on Canada. And now that LIE-berals are in charge, the Hogs have NOTHING to say about the Paris Accord that places NO demands on anybody and simply suggests we should reduce green house gas emissions!
(Greedy Hogs are the principle supporters of LIE-berals-one employed Cdn in three works for govt and it is Hogs that put LIE-berals in power in exchange for a promise-now shown to be worthless-of MORE GRAVY! So LIE-berals are now manipulating Hogs numbers and dangling future hiring/new job carrots before them.)
(The overall environmental picture is this: As the civil service expands under LIE-berals, the greater are the number of Hogs that LIE-berals can count on for votes so LIE-berals can cling to power. And as the number of people on the govt Sunshine List hgrows- so to does the number of people with the wealth to have a HUGE carbon footprint! We’re not necessarily against any cuts. If positions aren’t needed, reduce the payroll.
What we are against is the theatrical language, disconnected from reality, that was used to smear the Harper government in recent years.
Communications in government, for better or worse, are more controlled than ever.

This happens at all levels of government, regardless of who’s in power. There was never an orchestrated conspiracy against federal scientists.
The media and opposition during the Harper years were reckless in taking a handful of stories about disgruntled former federal scientists and turning them into a grand narrative that wasn't backed up by facts.

Hydro One is prepared to pay out $50 million in golden send-offs to U.S. executives of an American energy company it’s purchasing, PC Leader Doug Ford says.
(This appears to be the same energy company that LIE-berals and Hydro One Hogs bought into using our tax money- the company that is BURNING COAL in some of its generators- and how can LIE-berals FORCE us to use costly mouldy green power and then BUY a Yankee company happily burning coal? For the GRAVY- Hog vote cannot be bought without LOTS of gravy! Even worse- the company in embroiled in a major pollution lawsuit which it is likely to LOSE and be forced into a COSTLY cleanup which Cdn tax payers will be forced to help fund- or lose their stake in the LIE-beral purchased company! The LIE-beral HYPOCRISY IS STUNNING!)
The information was contained in a series of U.S. securities filings by Avista Corp., Ford revealed Friday.
“They agreed to give out millions of dollars of your money, Kathleen Wynne’s politically corrupt hydro executives, gave out more than $50 million in payouts in golden parachutes to U.S. energy executives paid for with your hard-earned money,” Ford said.
“That’s $50 million in payouts going straight into the pockets of American hydro executives. Folks, this makes my blood boil when I hear stories like this because unlike Kathleen Wynne, I talk to real people every single day.”
(LIE-berals of course SCORN Ford`s message and deny having wasted $50 million dollars on severance pay- but other documents show they have already paid out millions and have allocated millions more for future pay outs- the $50 million quote by Ford is ACCURATE! A majority stake in Hydro One was sold off by the Wynne government, but the province remains the largest single shareholder.
The privatized Hydro One signed a $6.7 billion deal in 2017 to purchase Avista Corp., which serves more than 600,000 customers in Washington, Idaho and Oregon.
While the deal has not been finalized, Ford said that Hydro One has already authorized $36 million in payouts to Avista’s top five managers, and an additional $14 million to another eight executives as a “golden parachute.”
(There is the $50 million in severance- though not all paid out- YET!)
Ford didn’t specify what he would do to stop the payments to U.S. energy executives, other than say he was prepared to replace the entire board of Hydro One with directors who would make better decisions.

Anybody remember Ellen Clitheroe- the former head of Hydro who so abused her expense account in her 3 years on the job that she was fired in disgrace- with a pension of $337,000 per year- for LIFE! Clitheroe decided to become an Anglican priest as a new career and then she SUED Hydro because her $337 grand per year pension was INADEQUATE! She got LAUGHED out of court!)
The PCs have already said that they would fire the “six-million-dollar” CEO of Hydro One, Mayo Schmidt, despite his own $10.7 million golden parachute.
The Wynne government launched a review of executive compensation at Hydro One after Ford’s widely reported complaints.
(Yes- LIE-berals have made a mess all on their own and are now working hard to ensure that anybody who comes after them will still have to dance the LIE-beral tune- LIE-berals are RAISING the amount of severance pay their Hydro Hog allies are entitled to claim- as a result of the Ford statements! Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault called Ford’s claims that Ontario hydro customers were on the hook for the U.S. payouts a lie.
“Hydro One customers have not paid one penny to US hydro executives at Avista. Nor will they in the future,” Thibeault said.
(And yet the LIE-beral LIAR has been EXPOSED! Oh well its only money?)
“Doug Ford doesn’t seem to know what he’s talking about, which is troubling from a self-described sound businessman. Either that or he’s deliberately misleading people.”
The purchase of Avista increases the value of Hydro One, and that includes the Ontario government’s share, Thibeault said.

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath referred to Ford’s comments as “hollow bellowing.”
“The $50-million golden parachute clause the privatized Hydro One gave to Avista executives is one of the reasons why the people of Ontario, including me, didn’t want Kathleen Wynne to sell off Hydro One,” Horwath said in a statement.
“Mr. Ford will keep the privatization that caused hydro bills and executive salaries to shoot up in the first place. He will maintain the Liberal’s damaging $40 billion hydro borrowing scheme that will cause bills to soar by 70 per cent after the election.”
(Its all very well for NDPers to whine about the disgraceful Hydro sell off but NDPers have NOT considered the real cost of a buy back! But then NDP airheads are even worse money managers than LIE-berals as NDPer Bob Rae and his notorious Rae Days proved!)

Of course you are talking money and numbers of full boots and weapons systems which add up on paper to a formidable force in deed but US corporate corruption and outright theft erase the shine easily.
