30 to 40% of Kurdish military forces are women freedom fighters. Many of the 11000 Kurds killed fighting ISIS for the American Government are women. These women warriors do not allow themselves to be taken prisoner by ISIS forces. ISIS has [alleged] Koran based rules of war that allow them to enslave and/or rape prisoners of war. For these women warriors it is better to die fighting then to be captured and repeatedly raped by ISIS soldiers before being executed. That is one of the reasons why they have been some of the fiercest Kurdish fighters. They will never surrender while still alive. These women are some of the people now being abandoned by the current American president as he attempts to curry favor with both Russia and Turkey.
