Maybe China only wanted to get small potato excited to influence him in being more open to selling a certain Canadian company. Now that they got what they wanted comes the total turnaround

Looks like Trudeau got played by China. They led him on to get what they wanted (acquisition of Canadian company), Then droped him once they got what they wanted. Poor fella is naive and too innocent

It would be cute if he wasn’t our Prime Minister

I don't think he got played. He never had a chance going in. China is a large, populous country whose star is rising on the world market. Canada is geographically large, but doesn't have the clout in people or industry. China brushed away a fly. i don't think they saw a point to negotiating anything with us. They probably are following a plan.

The only thing I don't get is the CDN negotiating staff who helped set up this meeting should have seen it coming. That's their job: To work out the details, so that when the leaders meet, they can have their photos taken and heap platitudes upon each other. All the heavy lifting is done by behind the scenes people.

They're probably exacting revenge for the Phoenix payroll system.

They seem to think they matter.

These negotiations for China are nothing more than their interest in securing a supply of select natural resources from Canada in addition to a number of other resource-based countries, nothing more

Unless we know what all the goals were and how much achievement there is, it's hard to judge the success of the trip and besides it's not over yet!

It was Trudeau's job to leverage that relationship to secure opportunity for Cdn companies to get work in China, but apparently tater tot wanted to chat about other issues more closely related to telling the Chinese gvt how to run their country.
