While I don't advocate for oil spills the biosphere is in no way permenantly damaged by spilled oil and has been coping with massive natural outflows for as it (the planet) has been making oil.

This planet leaks oil into the biosphere all day twenty four seven. It is the blood of the planet, lubrication for the axis of the earth and the econuts want to fuk with the spheres physics.

The ideology belongs to Gerald Butts - the guy who helped drive Ontario into the muck - and now our PM's chief adviser. Being naïve, arrogant and needing to be adored by the elitist Lefties (the UN and usual econut suspects) - that all belongs to our Prime Minister. When consumer money gets handed over to Evil Oil Corp as genuine honest to God subsidies to lower production emissions thus upping production and exports we'll maybe see some monies used as general revenue.
