In the late 70's and early 80's the Catholic Church sponsored tens if not hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese boat people.
We had some hired where I worked at the time.
They worked their asses off and then bought and made successful businesses. They had help, but not support - they had to work.
They were also legit, while many of the refugees we are seeing now are economic and are "weaponized"... created and run on a globalist agenda, knowing or not.
Much like democratic party policies devastated the Mexican farmer and created a welfare burden of some say over 30 million unarmed illegal immigrants aimed at the US. That bled the nation a lot.
Also since I volunteer at the homeless shelter I can tell you the economic climate is killing food donation, if not for the corporate donors, it would be impossible right now to feed the people we do at the food bank.
