Sal, the Canticle for Leibowitz should be read by every twitchy politician that thinks we've enjoyed one war too few.

the salt is a preservative and people are now so accustomed to eating it in such huge quantities that they no longer taste it.

It's just f**kin' criminal the way they add extra salt to all the foods the kids enjoy, specifically potato chips and cheezies. Of course they are looking for long term consumers, so if they can get the kids hooked they have customers for what they hope will be a long life. It's a form of murder.

The Chrysalids was a wonderful post-apocalyptic children's novel.

She was betrayed by a footprint in the sand.

You mean live healthy and die of absolutely nothing!
no,

I do live a healthy lifestyle compared to most around me and from the stuff some people post in here likely too... but I'm getting a bit obsessive with that too...I look at food others consume on a daily basis and it is poison.

I mean I do not want to linger with some terrible fuking illness that was self-induced because of sitting my fat azz on a couch and not moving or from what I ate, drank, or ingested for a moment of pleasure and that reduces one's lifestyle to almost zero and they just malinger hoping to keep breathing ... I just want to be swimming along in the pool and sink when my heart explodes

Well we ain't gonna tell ya the rest. Nope, no way. OK maybe later, just before bedtime....................
lol

bite me ya bitch... :p

I suppose most store bought stuff these days (with the exception of pepper) is probably laced with salt and chemicals. Schneider's head cheese might be another exception. I don't why anyone would want to f**k up roast beef.

Yep, but according to an expert on C.B.C. radio just the other day all these terrible fats are no longer the villains they once were, actually they are not even very harmful compared to sugar and salt. I think the best answer is to eat as much variety of food as you can in moderate portions. And more important is to get a couple of hours of vigorous exercise on most days.

You did notice the salt content right? That is what I highlighted since it was you going on about the evil salt and made the comment that you thought headcheese was not a concern.

Oh yeah, the salt content is criminal in pretty well everything. There are safe substitutes for salt they can be using. I've been using a product called "no salt". The only thing criminal about it is the price. I bet if the Gov't subsidized No Salt, they'd save 10 times the amount in reduced heart operations.

Never thought I'd say this but I do kind of agree on the burka thing. Kind of. It's part of their interpertation of religion and they have as much right to wear it as say some fundy Christians have to force their women into dresses, head scarves, not cutting their hair, etc.

Burqas have nothing at all to do with religion. Only naive, PC, Western liberals believe that.

Even women in some Muslim countries, such as Pakistan, rarely wear the burka. Syria, another Muslim country, DISCOUARAGES its women to wear burqas. So even some MUSLIM countries don't like the burqa.

And yet here we are in Britain with our ruling PC LIberal Establishment telling Muslim women they can wear burqas if they like "'cos it's their relijun, innit?" and because banning the burqa would be "racccciiisssssttt!"

Women in the "west" have a right to step out of these things if they so wish

Again, your naivety is showing. Women in the West do NOT have a right to not wear the burqa if they so wish, not when they are threatened with physical abuse by their fathers, brothers and uncles if they don't wear them, as does happen.

In Britain the burqa - which makes any woman who wears it look like a medieval Dalek - is mainly an instrument used by Islamic fundamentalists to control their women and say to the rest of the population: "Britain is slowly becoming an Islamic state."

Burqas, along with halal, should be banned in Britain as they are elsewhere in Europe.
