A Plea for Caution From Russia

What Putin Has to Say to Americans About Syria

By VLADIMIR V. PUTIN

Published: September 11, 2013

MOSCOW — RECENT events surrounding Syria have prompted me to speak directly to the American people and their political leaders. It is important to do so at a time of insufficient communication between our societies.

Relations between us have passed through different stages. We stood against each other during the cold war. But we were also allies once, and defeated the Nazis together. The universal international organization — the United Nations — was then established to prevent such devastation from ever happening again.

The United Nations’ founders understood that decisions affecting war and peace should happen only by consensus, and with America’s consent the veto by Security Council permanent members was enshrined in the United Nations Charter. The profound wisdom of this has underpinned the stability of international relations for decades.

No one wants the United Nations to suffer the fate of the League of Nations, which collapsed because it lacked real leverage. This is possible if influential countries bypass the United Nations and take military action without Security Council authorization.

Russia’s ‘carrier-killer’ Moskva enters Mediterranean

Russia’s Moskva missile cruiser, dubbed a “carrier-killer” by NATO, has passed through the Straits of Gibraltar and is now heading toward the eastern Mediterranean to assume command of the Russian naval force there.

The Russian Navy said in a statement that the Moskva cruiser passed through the Straits of Gibraltar on September 10.

Russia is now going forward with the sale to Iran of the S-300 advanced integrated aircraft and missile defense systems. The Iranians will use them to set up a no fly zone along Syria's borders.

E smack's from Boston. What do you have in great White whales? Like, say,
How about June Shannon?

Great White Whales? June Shannon?

Surely you can be of better help than that HB!

Boomer, are you re-writing Tom Clancy's "the Sum of all Fears"?

More like Red Storm Rising.

Sum of All Fears was nasty muslims nuking Denver.

Unless you were talking about the PC movie version (muslims replace by white racist, commies, and nazis) which s-ucked azz.

The only difference is, this has become eerily real and mainly because Obama drew some imaginary red line in the sand about the use of Chemical Weapons.

Unwilling To Act Alone, Obama Pulls Back From Brink Of War. The British abandoned him. The Arab League could not commit. The United Nations faced Russian obstruction, and the U.S. Congress remained a comedy of dysfunction.

Yet he goes around the nation beating his chest trying to rally support for an attack on Syria that the people don't want and the International community has warned against.

If we get into a war, you only have one person to thank, an egotistical self centered psychopath that is more worried about what the world thinks of him to let this go... Obama.

It's OK, Putin will save us.

Putin saved Obama's a$$. Putin played Obama like a cheap fiddle and a pawn in a chess game. Putin now holds the cards and Obama has nothing. And Obama will have looked like a fool once again.

This is what happens when the people elect a completely unqualified President.

Some will say that only the threat of force brought Russia and Syria to the negotiating table, in fact though Russia has been negotiating with the USA for over a year to find a resolution to the conflict in Syria.

This is a great day for the United States as a whole, as it truly shows democracy at it's best.. it is a good day for the USA as Obama was wise enough to seek congressional support before acting and bringing the United States into a log drawn out war.. and the democratic process shows the United State's strengths, not weakness.

Who do you need saving from?
Jihadis, Eurotrash, drug lords, Middle East dictators, Chinese sweatshop owners, Zionist thugs, and Canadians generally.

Seriously, it's time to declare Pax Americana over, let the Russians and Chinese do as they please, cut our military by 50%, and then start talking about what we should cut our military to.

Cut carriers from 10 to 5, with commensurate cuts in other classes of naval vessels.

Cut fighter squadrons from 66 to 30.

Cut bomber wings from 10 to 3.

Cut force strength:

Army - 540,000 to 250,000
Marines - 195,000 to 100,000
Navy - 317,000 to 200,000
Air Force - 334,000 to 200,000

Cut the military budget from $716 billion to $400 billion.

And then, as I said, start talking about what we should finally cut the budget to.
