That's an astute observation Dr Sinister. These legions of god freaks fail to understand or even doubt that God has created us exactly as we appear and no less nor any more. It is God hisself what has made what we see. These doubters do not know the meaning of omnipotence. They believe we are not formed perfected in our assignments in his service and do not serve to his rule.
If God created everybody perfect how could mankind be divided into some having a bit of an advantage by being alive for the 1,000 years while the much larger group has to wait until that time period is over before they receive the same rewards? That marks the difference between those that are called 'great' and those that are called the 'least' while being in the same Kingdom of God.

M't:5:19:
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments,
and shall teach men so,
he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven:
but whosoever shall do and teach them,
the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

It's just a simple matter of believing the Scriptures, or not believing them!
I don't, and neither do you, really, you're just cherry picking things that suit what you want to believe. If you doubt that claim, try living your life according to the 613 prescriptions for correct behaviour given in the first five books of the Old Testament. You'll need a good lawyer, you're likely to be arrested within a few days, unless some other fundie loon kills you first for wearing a shirt made of a cotton-polyester blend, or for working on a Sunday, or some other equally imaginary offense the OT prescribes death for.

It is a fairly accurate statement that most Christians have not read their bibles from cover to cover. If they were familiar with all 613 laws or "mitzvahs" of the Torah they may develop a fresh perspective. But most , like this one probably prefers to just listen to his pastor and leave the studying to others. Amen, Hallelurya.

I'm sure you're right, and there are passages in the New Testament that can be read as meaning the OT laws are still in force, and that they've been superceded by the new covenant Jesus brought. Take your pick, there's biblical support for both positions.

Jesus came to reform Judaism. I disregard most of the new testament and possibly much of the synoptic gospels and the gospel of John.

That is kinda what selfsame keeps telling us about his little book of myths too. You guys should get together and sort it out first then get back to us with the facts.

Me too.

Along with the rest of the book. The plot is mediocre, there's no character development, and it really drags in a lotta places.

With a good editor and lots of CGI, might could make a decent summer movie.

Really??? There is no support for any of the 600+ laws being applicable since about 33AD when Acts:10 took place. The old diet laws were done away with and when one law from a group is removed the whole group is removed. If they are said to be followed today then why is there no punishment for breaking them? The 10 Commandments also went through a 'change' in that a person only had to think about breaking one to be in breach of that law, nobody admits that is part of the NT teaching no matter how knowledgeable they claim to be.

Your version of both being supported is flawed by your version of some passage but if you were to actually reference some of them it would be quite easy to see where your mistake is.

Col:2:16:
Let no man therefore judge you in meat,
or in drink,
or in respect of an holyday,
or of the new moon,
or of the sabbath days:

The 600+ laws were put in place for Jesus to follow so He would be sinless when killed for being a sinner. Those laws came into effect with Moses and Aaron and they were removed when the bruise to the heel part of Ge:3:15 was completed. The law governing the events leading up to the bruise to Satan's head go by the 10 Commandments and the 600+ laws are null and void in all respects. There would be no punishment for following them but it would show that the person is not part of the Gentiles that have latched onto the Bible. Jews already have they fate spelled out, they will need a resurrection to be alive for the 1,000 year reign so there is a high price to pay for not using all Scripture as being authoritative.

Eze:39:23:
And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity:
because they trespassed against me,
therefore hid I my face from them,
and gave them into the hand of their enemies:
so fell they all by the sword.
Eze:39:24:
According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them,
and hid my face from them.

Me too.

Adam goes from being mortal and not knowing about good and evil to being immortal and knowing all about good and evil and inheriting the realm of Angels yet there is no growing process??

Why bother, 2/3 of the world is supposed to be in unbelief when judgement day comes?

M't:25:31-34:
When the Son of man shall come in his glory,
and all the holy angels with him,
then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
And before him shall be gathered all nations:
and he shall separate them one from another,
as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
And he shall set the sheep on his right hand,
but the goats on the left.
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand,
Come,
ye blessed of my Father,
inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Zec:13:7-9:
Awake,
O sword,
against my shepherd,
and against the man that is my fellow,
saith the LORD of hosts:
smite the shepherd,
and the sheep shall be scattered:
and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.
And it shall come to pass,
that in all the land,
saith the LORD,
two parts therein shall be cut off and die;
but the third shall be left therein.
And I will bring the third part through the fire,
and will refine them as silver is refined,
and will try them as gold is tried:
they shall call on my name,
and I will hear them:
I will say,
It is my people:
and they shall say,
The LORD is my God.

We're discussing Christianity.

There is the hypothetical Q source that peaks my interest. I am not ready to dismiss what the man was really about. Since we know Sauls Epistles pre date the gospels his influence on those writers can't be ignored. But a source separate from what probably happened relative to the early stages of Christianity is interesting to me.

Throughout the Bible, God views sin as indicative of rebellion, disobedience, and unbelief.
Those born-again have been given a new nature by which they are no longer slaves of sin!
And they have been given the Holy Spirit, who has come to help them overcome their sins!
Compared to the OT, God’s born-again people have NO excuse for failure to be overcomers!

1 Corinthians 6:8-10, TLB• No habitual sinner will have any part in the Kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:18-24, TLB• No one who lives/walks in the flesh will inherit the Kingdom of God.

Ephesians 5:3-7, TLB• No Kingdom of God for them, and are those receiving God’s wrath going to heaven?

Colossians 3:5-8, TLB• Will anyone who receives God’s terrible anger and wrath be going to heaven?

Revelation 21:7-8, TLB• 8 examples of habitual sinners who will be thrown into the Lake of Fire.

Revelation 22:14-15, TLB• 6 examples of habitual sinners who will not be allowed to enter the city of the New Jerusalem.

"One of the true marks of our ongoing sanctification is the growing awareness of how far short we fall of reaching perfection. Perfectionism is really anti-perfectionism in disguise. If we think we are becoming perfect, then we are far from becoming perfect."
The Heresy of Perfectionism
