Federal Judge blocks Trump's Muslim ban Nationwide

Trump's travel ban temporarily blocked nationwide by federal judge in Seattle

A federal judge in Seattle has temporarily blocked Donald Trump’s immigration travel ban on people from seven predominantly Muslim countries.

US district judge James Robart granted a temporary restraining order Friday at the request of Washington state and Minnesota that’s effective nationwide.

Trump signed an executive order last week that sparked protests across the country and confusion at airports as some travelers were detained. The ruling is the broadest to date against Trump’s directive.

Lawyers for the US government argued that the states do not have standing to challenge the order and said Congress gave the president authority to make decisions on national security and admitting immigrants.

Washington attorney general Bob Ferguson had sued, saying the order is causing significant harm to residents and effectively mandates discrimination. Minnesota joined the suit this week. Washington and Minnesota want a temporary restraining order while the court considers their lawsuit, which says key sections of the order are unconstitutional.

Washington attorney general Bob Ferguson says the state has a “profound interest” in protecting its citizens from the harms caused by what he called “the irrational discrimination” embodied in Trump’s order.

The Washington-based businesses of Amazon, Expedia and Microsoft support the state’s efforts to stop the order.

Whether you support Trump or not, there's no denying that this has been an epic gong show. It sure says alot about the lack of skill set Trump brings to the position

some won't listen, others won't understand and a few are too stupid for any explanations to stick.

they won't, don't want to and never will. no backbone to say they were wrong.

I am hoping that people will slowly realize that they were improperly whipped into a frenzy by the press...

Don't blame the people or the press because the Trump team bungled this

You ever hear of boats? Or planes?

/QUOTE]

And those boats and planes would come from where? I stand by my post.

I guess if you haven't figured it out by now, I guess you never will. They say that love is blind, but you also appear to be deaf.

You made me laugh. I got the dis but, the word appear means to see or arrive I guess, 'seem to be deaf 'would have been better. Nevermind it was very heart warming your appear to be deaf I mean. I don't think he's deaf, I think he's dumb, if he says/posts something about it I will be destroyed.

It's not a muslim ban either.

It's a citizens of certain countries ban.

Exactly- although I'm not sure I exactly agree with it. Surely a lot of the upstanding citizens can be readily identified!

Blockheads are itching for litigation to stop the 'ban'. The 'ban' will end in 3 months but the litigation will go on for months after that, maybe years. Not very smart starting action that will drag on and cost dearly to stop something that has already stopped ages ago!

Doesn't matter how disruptive or how many people hate this ban, it will be reinstated. Trump now has powers over immigration laws and the right to revoke visa. The law is the law, same law that allows him to make or not make his taxed available to the public.

There will still be tighter entrance requirements as you now have to be 'documented' and that is all Trump was after. ISIS will be given false documents which will be found to be bogus and that (former terrorist) will be looking at other options. (such as becoming a witness for Assad against places like the 5 Arab States that were supporting the attempted coup in Syria (and other places)

To be completely honest, restrictions on immigration are nothing new. At least there's no (official) head tax involved. What annoys people most is the hateful way in which Lord Dampnuts has chosen to boast his message. Lighten up some, Donny - before someone chooses country over mouthpiece

That was the term inserted by the media when they were performing their "Filtering." Then the Progressives put it out on Social Media too. This judge did look at the total document and read it carefully. Now lets us see what the Court of Appeals says about the Federal Judge's ruling in Seattle, WA. says

If the objective is to screen the incoming, job well done and this guy should not feel slighted.........

Victoria Cross recipient Johnson Beharry has described his "humiliation" after being held up by US border officials amid Donald Trump's immigration clampdown.

The Iraq war hero arrived at New York's JFK airport hours after the president ordered travel restrictions on nationals from seven mainly Muslim countries on January 27.

Beharry, who was seriously injured in the conflict in 2004, said he faced a wait of nearly three hours to reach the border where his passport was further scrutinized.

The 37-year-old, who was awarded the military's highest award for valour, for saving the lives of 30 comrades, told the Sun on Sunday: "I felt humiliated."

"I think they held me because my passport showed I had been to Iraq".

Beharry said that he suspected he had been viewed with suspicion because of his travel to Iraq and his appearance

"Maybe I am a bit Asian-looking but that doesn't mean I should be treated with the same suspicion as a terrorist."

Beharry continued: "I explained that I had been in Iraq fighting for the British Army but they didn't seem to care.
