Give your head a shake Che.
lol, Fidel and Che were fight the same thing so they were against the same people. Fidel lives and was demonized anbd Che was made a made an icon in the US and it was hidden that he was fighting against US trained death squads. Now wonder you are so confused with all the spin going around so the US doesn't look as evil as they have been. Trump is about to tip that cart over.

Re: Trump's Executive Order Remains in Place

As I was well aware of since about 1974. The fact is contrary to what was insinuated in your post Nixon wasn't impeached. Would he have been impeached had he not resigned? Who knows? Had have been impeached, would he have lost the presidency? Who knows?

Nothing was insinuated in my post except the that the fear of impeachment forced Nixon to resign. Only your interpretation of it was in error. I wonder what the thin-skinned moron who is now president will do if he faces that threat.

If we were ever attacked/invaded America would be our defense. We sure couldn't defend ourselves.

Actually Canada is almost impossible to attack except from one direction - south.

I don't understand those calling for Trump's impeachment. Don't they understand what impeachment is all about?

Very few seem to, apparently it's one step before being charged!

My pick for the pious political hypocrite of the week award

I would like to propose Labour MP Tulip Siddiq as the winner of the pious political hypocrite of the week badge for her response to President Trump’s temporary immigration halt. From today’s Guardian we learn that Ms Siddiq is one of a number of Labour MPs who have warned that the UK Prime Minister’s allegedly ‘feeble’ response to President Trump’s recent immigration order risks making UK Muslim communities feel ‘disenfranchised and disillusioned.’ Apparently the consequences of this failure could be ‘played out on our streets’ and ‘turning a blind eye to the reality of this ban we run the risk of losing the trust of an entire generation of young British Muslims.’

Now of course one might ask what it is about any group of people that makes them so available for street disturbances. I cannot think of any other group in society of whom this would be said. Does not the very suggestion that young Muslims might rise up on the streets of Britain over such a far-away political issue actually suggest a certain validity to the argument some people make that Muslims are unusually bad at integrating and continuing to import them in very large numbers is a mistake in the long term? Does it not, in other words, go some way to justifying what rationale appears to exist behind Trump’s Presidential order?

I park the thought in order to award the prize. The reason why Tulip Siddiq’s comments stand out are because of something rather closer to home than US border politics. For as well as being MP for Hampstead and Kilburn Ms Siddiq is also the niece of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina – a woman to whom I understand she is very close. Such are the happy connections of an inter-connected world.

So were I Ms Siddiq, and genuinely concerned about global injustice, I would not spend much time condemning the UK PM for not sufficiently condemning the US President: this is a long and convoluted process, unlikely to yield results. Instead I would pick up the phone and call my aunt. For of course Bangladesh has for many decades run a genuinely bigoted and borderline racist border-control of its own which, among other things, refuses entry to Israeli passport holders. If you were a Jew living in your ancestral homeland and sought to go on holiday to Bangladesh – never mind if you decided to live there – you couldn’t. Now if I were such a believer as Ms Siddiq appears to be in the right of people to roam wherever they like such a blanket ban going back many years would bother me far more than a temporary ban which looks likely to be clarified in the coming weeks.

The other thing that is so interesting about this relationship is that it brings to mind a number of conversations I have had in recent years in the migrant camps of southern Europe. For on a fairly regular basis I have come across groups of Bangladeshi men in those camps who have come to Europe because they have had to flee their native land. As ever it is hard to verify the reasons they give, but most Bangladeshis I have spoken to in the Greek camps have explained that they had to leave their native Bangladesh because they were involved in the political opposition and that their lives were under threat from government forces. The plight of these people is genuinely terrible. Unable to return home, and unable to go beyond Greece to get into Europe.

So as I say, if Tulip Siddiq really wants to alleviate global social injustice, instead of using the alleged volatility of young British Muslims to try to sway US government policy she should just speed-dial her aunt. Direct lines don’t come much more direct than that.

Nixon resigned in the full knowledge that the House Judiciary Committee had voted for articles of impeachment, JLM. He had no choice.

There are other ways to go after Trump then impeachment. He could be censured.

Not sure why he would be censured for doing exactly what he promised to do though.

Plus he's popular.

The fury over Trump's policies are only strengthening the resolve of his supporters. I think it's always wiser when one disapproves of political moves to let the politicians hang themselves. If the policies are as wrong as the detractors claim, the self-hanging will happen. It just takes a bit of time.
We're seeing it now in Canada. Nobody protested when Trudeau was elected; now his ratings are dropping fast due to his own words and actions.

People really are starting to go nuts, especially across the "pond" where they are trying to thwart Trump's visit with the Queen. Do people really believe that he would do harm to our Queen? Time for the white coats and butterfly nets!

Re: Trump's Executive Order Remains in Place

Trump always doubles down when under attack. He adjusts, recalibrates based on results, but always presses on. Everyone should realized that he won't be badgered by the phony and hypocritical outrage of the Liberal establishment. In fact he moves so quickly and on so many fronts that his opposition can't organize their attack on a single target. Tomorrow they'll have to start dividing their attention to the Pro Life Supreme Court nominee. In the long run, Trump usually wins.

And so he should! Why can't people get it through their thick heads that he's doing ALL the things he promised during the campaign? I suppose one answer is we are not hearing anything from the other 319 million!

So, you don't think 'the majority' should run the country?

What part of 306 to 232 don't you understand?

Sorry, she may have been referring to the majority of the voters. (Which means s.f.a. in the North American systems)

Nice selective quote. davesmom was referring to the majority of democrats, you know the losers. Since almost half the eligible voters didn't they are obviously in favor of Trump. Which gives him somewhere around 75%

Re: Trump's Executive Order Remains in Place

There is no "Muslim Ban"

U.S. Code 1182, inadmissible aliens. This law was written in 1952. It was passed by a Democrat-controlled Congress, House and Senate, and signed by a Democrat president.

“Suspension of entry or imposition of restrictions by president. Whenever the president finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, the president may, by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”

Ban Of Muslims And Others Already U.S. Law: 8 U.S. Code 1182 - Common Sense Evaluation

Even in the words of the Clinton News Network (CNN) they have admitted that the countries Trump has listed were long ago identified by the Obamba administration.

Trump has NOT banned Muslims - the CBC and other Leftist fake propaganda networks are lying to agitate leftist thugs into street action.

"(CNN) — The seven Muslim-majority countries targeted in President Trump's executive order on immigration were initially identified as "countries of concern" under the Obama administration."

...In December 2015, President Obama signed into law a measure placing limited restrictions on certain travelers who had visited Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria on or after March 1, 2011. Two months later, the Obama administration added Libya, Somalia, and Yemen to the list, in what it called an effort to address "the growing threat from foreign terrorist fighters."

Under the law, dual citizens of visa-waiver countries and Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria could no longer travel to the U.S. without a visa. Dual citizens of Libya, Somalia, and Yemen could, however, still use the visa-waiver program if they hadn't traveled to any of the seven countries after March 2011.

Trump's order is much broader. It bans all citizens from those seven countries from entering the U.S. "

How the Trump administration chose the 7 countries in the immigration executive order - CNNPolitics.com

India has more muslims (172 million) than the entire Mideast, they are not banned. Indonesia is the country with the most muslims (around 250 million, 10 times that of Saudi Arabia), they are not banned. Pakistan has 178 million, they are not banned. Bangadesh has 145 million, they are not banned.

Those four countries alone account for about half the muslim population of the world. Muslims from 189 countries are NOT banned, now explain how this is a "muslim ban".

This whole thing has been blown completely out of proportion by the left-wing media, and it has been used by idiots like Shiny Pony who cannot resist jumping on the anti-Trump bandwagon.

There are only about 50 Muslim countries, not 189. There are only 195 countries in the world. Who is exaggeration now.
