Outrage in Saudi Arabia after female British TV presenter becomes the first woman ever to read the news in the country without a veil

  • Newsreader appeared on the Kingdom-owned Al Ekhbariya news channel
  • Her bulletin prompted several news stories and storm of Twitter reaction
  • Women often show their hair on Saudi TV including on foreign-made shows
  • But it is thought to be first time state news presenter has been uncovered
  • Channel released a statement and said the incident would not happen again

The antiquated ideas of Saudi Arabia towards women combined with the mention of a "storm of Twitter reaction" have me saying....wha??

It's absurd that we still live in a world where something as simple and ridiculous as this can still be an issue somewhere.

Saudi Arabia is Wahhabist, what do you expect from their backwards-thinking neanderthals?

The concept that women shouldn't be treated like second rate dogs is and should be universal.

Completely agree, especially when Japan has topless news reporters or reporters getting it on while reporting the news.

.... oh wait, they weren't actual news reports, those were videos I accidentally stumbled upon while searching the internet for maple cookies.

Virgins from the 70's ?

Horrible hair dooz. Pale makeup. yetch !

And pubic hair you need a bush'whakka to access.
