Not nearly as many as there should be.Interesting. I wonder how many more here would agree with that?

Never heard of eassansir until recently, but judging by what he has written I sorta expected him to post something like that sooner or later. This is why we should never, ever, bend to the will of others simply out of fear.
You should be able to draw, say or write what you want without fear of threat from any group as long it is within the law. .
I think there's a line that gets crossed when half-truths and guesstimation starts hurting people.
I agree with that. I doubt the pig sticker would though.
Not nearly as many as there should be.
Silence speaks volumes.
when half-truths and guesstimation starts hurting peopleIs that so? What is the line you refer to?
I would say it depends on who it is and what is being written and said. There are people on here that defended the living hell out of people having the "right" to post and publish the Mohamed cartoons, but did everything they could to get rid of jbee and, in the past, have my ass banned.
You mean like Cannuck's outright lie that put a CEO and his company's reputation in jeopardy?I think there's a line that gets crossed when half-truths and guesstimation starts hurting people.
Well that counts me out. I went after JLM for days over that backroom deal to get you banned, and I defended Jbeee on numerous occasions.I would say it depends on who it is and what is being written and said. I think he was looking for an example bud.Do you look for a bar fight in everything?

Do you look for a bar fight in everything?
The Christian view starts with Jesus Christ Himself. He is the prototype for all martyrs in Christianity. Though by all the evidence He could have fled or avoided death, even perhaps led a mass movement against the Romans, He allowed Himself to be arrested, tried illegally, and killed by them by crucifixion.
Interesting reading, indeed:

Violence caused by unpopular (or even popular) speech, lies, half-truths, propaganda - whatever you want to call it - in the disguise of free speech isn't just and honest in my bit in the world.I'm not looking for a bar fight. I just don't understand your position. Are you defending the threat of violence to quell unpopular speech. If so where is the line?

That's why we have a criminal charge called, "Incite to riot", or, "Incite violence".Violence caused by unpopular (or even popular) speech, lies, half-truths, propaganda - whatever you want to call it - in the disguise of free speech isn't just and honest in my bit in the world.
is allowed to ferment, grow and become a dangerous and malignant wound.

I once felt the way you do, but after a many hours long phone conversation with ITN, I changed my mind.
Because we need the people that run on half truths, lies, propaganda, and whatever you want. Out in the open.
We need to see them in the light, and be able to address them in public. Where their audience gets a chance to see or hear the other side.
If we drive them underground, we lose that option and ability. Giving them the upper hand. They have an unchallenged venue, where their rhetoric is allowed to ferment, grow and become a dangerous and malignant wound.
Exactly!ewwwwwwww....gross.
Always got your six. Thanks for defending me Bear.
It's not as bad as that leather gimp you hired to work the door.I hate doing meetings underground.![]()

;-) I think we kinda just said the same things in different cycles....Have to disagree, I don't think we should ever draw that line. Instead I belive we need to confront the lies, the half-truths, and the propaganda head on, in the harsh light of day. Hold people accountable for what they say, challenge what they say and get the truth out there. It is not easy to do this, in fact sometimes I think it is so difficult it is damned near impossible. But it is the right thing to do.
The fault and blame for violence belongs only on those who commit violent acts. And they need to be held accountable for their actions.
Just my two cents.
