I've heard the term often enough but never did delve into what it was all about. I don't generally pay too much attention to what happens east of the Rocks.

I think you've been listening to S.J.P. for too long and I think your brain is becoming addlepated. You both keep yapping about one side of the equation. A figure like that be itself means absolutely nothing. To give you a fair analogy it's like saying you are a $100, 000 in debt while I am only $10 in debt- but failing to say you live in a $500 000 house while I live in a tent. If you are going to make comparisons you have to include ALL the figures and conditions. It's a totally different world now than it was 10 years ago. The government started deficit-spending just before the crash. There was a rainy day fund. The government spent it all. And when the rain finally came, we had to spend what we didn't have. I'm not necessarily going to blame this or that party, but clearly Parliament failed to keep spending in check.

Liberalman, I see in the news that Harper is giving the GG the golden hand shake.
Harper MUST BE manoeuvring to insure a new GG being that the present GG had some difficult moments on this last prorogation, THEY ACCORDING TO NEWS DID NOT SEE EYE TO EYE and she may have put the Conservatives on notice, that if another prorogation takes place she may have said to Harper, your day will be numbered, I have the power to fire you.

The present GG saved his ass, and she is the reason why Harper is still in office today, and for Harper, loyalty is second and opportunity in the quest of power comes first. I supposes this fit’s the Legacy report card. The sad part also is that this GG was not a money waist, for the tax payers.
Oh, and he may appoint his own choice for a new GG which apparently is unconstitutional ….. And that will be bad news for the Conservatives, to go counter to constitutional law of the country.:roll:

Hi JLM my good pal if u were the GG u save his ass, and because u put him on notice he politely doesn’t renew your contract, tell the honest feeling u r going to have. Especially when you have been frugal and not waist of money for the tax payers.

The truth is the most important thing, equal to an inseparable friend.:lol:

Since the 1960's the PM's have submitted one name to the Queen to be appointed GG. The Queen has never said no. So, in practice the PM appoints the GG.

Soc, please be informed. GGs are appointed for five-year terms - as in ends in September.

I bet your "party" would like you to cease and desist with your peculiar form of support.
