I would have thought the usual suspects would have been all over this one.

(in part)
The Iraqi branch of al-Qaida carried out two recent bombings in Damascus and was likely behind suicide bombings Friday that killed at least 28 people in the Syrian city of Aleppo, McClatchy Newspapers reported.
Citing unnamed U.S. officials, the newspaper chain said the incidents appeared to verify Syrian President Bashar Assad's charges of Al-Qaida involvement in the uprising against his rule.
The Syrian opposition has claimed that the Assad regime had staged the bombings to discredit the pro-democracy movement, the report said.
The first Damascus attack occurred on December 23, when suicide bombers detonated cars packed with explosives outside intelligence agency compounds, killing at least 44 people.

Seems like a lot of the rebels have given up and they have turned in their handlers.

Wonder if CBC will even cover it.

"Homs has been the stronghold of the Syrian opposition for many months, really a no go area for the Syrian Military, but in this past week they have retaken it, and suffered losses. Many French have been captured, including a Colonel of the French Intelligence services."

French Officers?

I heard Turkish on the radio today.

I do love how foreign nationals captured in Syria, are called mercenaries. While foreign nationals captured in Afghanistan are always called 'freedom fighters' in you material Mhz.

Aw what's the matter, things not going well for the warmongers against Syria so it gets almost blanked out for 5 days. An important vote was taken and new info becomes available about how all the ones sneaking into Syria can find the rebels stronghold as easy as one can find a 7/11 in any Canadian city.
Really says a lot about the ones who post on this site, no it's not a good light but your colors are clearly showing, as if they weren't before.

I guess you aren't part of the 'silent majority. in this issue, nice to see actually.

Pray for us say Syria rebels as army closes in | Reuters

The motley band of army deserters and desperate insurgents who call themselves the Farouq Brigade of the Free Syrian Army have sworn to fight to the last man, one activist from Baba Amro told Reuters. Others, though, said some of the unit's leaders had already made their escape from the shattered neighborhood.

Just what prayer are the rebel leaders after when they book it and leave the troops for the round-up. I would imagine that will help in the interviews, nothing like abandoning 'your troops' to inspire loyalty when take prisoner. Iguess you get what you pay for. lol

Syrian forces launch ground assault on Homs - Middle East - Al Jazeera English

Syrian government troops have started advancing on parts of Homs, after weeks of bombardment by tanks and fighters on the country's third largest city.

The latest assault, which appeared to have started overnight after power was cut to most of the area, saw troops clashing with opposition fighters when they tried to enter the opposition stronghold of Bab Amr on Wednesday.

Opposition activists said heavy fighting erupted at the al-Bassel football field on the outskirts of Bab Amr.

There were reports that elite troops of the Fourth Armoured Division, commanded by President Bashar al-Assad's brother Maher, had deployed with tanks around Bab Amr.

The activists also said Syrian soldiers abandoned checkpoints in the northern part of Homs, in the neighbourhoods of Al-Khaldia and Bayada.

Heavy shelling

The troops then started a heavy shelling campaign, the activists said, adding that there was sporadic shelling of other opposition areas in and around Homs.

"Homs is now and today experiencing the worst crackdown from al-Assad batallions and Assad regimes and every district and residential area in Homs is being surrounded," Hadi Abdullah, an activist in Homs, told Al Jazeera on Wednesday.

"The Syrian army is using all the weapons and we are really scared because we can safely say that these areas will be a traget of severe shelling from the Syrian army."

Soldiers are reportedly also searching houses and other buildings for army deserters who have since joined the opposition Free Syria Army.

"It is obvious that they are launching a major offensive against the strongholds of the Free Syria Army," said Al Jazeera's Rula Amin, reporting from neighbouring Lebanon.

"President Assad and the government have made it clear, he has said that he wants this month to be a decisive month. They believe that in this month they can contain the opposition, they can crush the armed opposition and that's what they are trying to do."

Amin said sources close to the government said the army had almost cleared Bab Amr from fighters, but this claim was disputed by activists.

The latest reports of violence came as the international community continued to debate the Syria crisis.

Valerie Amos, the UN humanitarian chief, said Syria had denied her repeated requests to visit the country.

Now do one on the Bush family starting just prior to WWII.

"Assuming that the number of casualties provided by the UN’s OHCHR is around the 5,000-mark, the last official figure provided by the group. The question is whether this is a highly disproportionate number of deaths when contrasted directly with the approximately 2,000 soldiers of the regular Syrian army and other security forces who have been reportedly killed since April 2011. When you calculate the deaths of the government forces in the past 11 months, they amount to about six a day. Contrast that with frequent death toll totals of around 15+ each day disseminated by activists – many of whom are potentially neither civilian casualties nor victims of targeted violence – and there is close to enough parity to suggest a conflict where the acts of violence may be somewhat equal on both sides."

'The Butcher' was Ariels nickname, pot, kettle, black. We both know Israel and the US would have killed many more if 2,000 of their troops had been killed. The really ugly part is Israel and the US have been partly responsible for all the deaths, military and civilian in that they are operating covertly in Syria.

That is ridiculous.

Explain THIS to me: WHY would Israel be operating covertly in Syria in a rebellion against the secular Ba'athist gov't?????

I know, I know....they are JOOS.

But that usually doesn't indicate a tendency to suicide.......

Here's a thought for you........in the 63 years since Israel repelled the first Arab invasion of Israel, through numerous wars, border scraps, proxy spats, etc etc etc.......Israel has killed AT MAXIMUM 6000 Syrians.

Bashir Assad has killed more Syrians in 10 months than the Israelis have killed in 60 years.

Think about that.

That just means the rest of you have your asses shoved up somebody's ass since your war views only get posted when Israel and the US are killing people and blowing the **** out of civilian facilities.

3 elections going on that aren't covered, Russia, Syria, and Iran. Nothing to see here folks, nice pretty bleating what we want sheep, never felt so good to be an 'outsider' lol

After all the issues isn't humanitarian anyway, besides the elections didn't go the way the West needed so why broadcast to the world you have a 4 card flush..

Israel would not be able to attack Iran by air with Syria being able to tell Iran how much the planes weigh, etc. Iran already has the water covered for at least 150 miles all on their own. Some destroyer the UK is bragging about can fire 40 high-speed interceptor missiles, Iran has 50 such missiles, do the math. Just because you don't like to read the reports lets hope your bosses do read them.

In the spy business when we say we don't like something that means we should spend more time doing it, like you on the war threads, know what I mean??
I post because of the lies not the body count, that's your game.

.

A pero-west Government would cut ties with Iran and kill the S-300 radar and missile system, if Iran had one they could probably be interlinked as far as tracking goes an that could only help Iran's missiles get more accurate.

I know, I know....they are JOOS.
Not at all, btw try and remember a Jew is a member of a religious organization, soon as the pick up a weapon they lose that status, same as a Christian when they pick up a weapon, soldiers belong to the Government and Jew is a Nations, Israel is claiming that status as a political entity so shove this argument up your ass.

But that usually doesn't indicate a tendency to suicide.......[/QUOTE said:
Suicide for who? The STL has been 'on break' for a full years, the **** that should have been made public in that trial shows that the US and Israel were heavily involved in the assassination that is at the heart of the matter. Down to video from a hacked Israeli drone so don't play the 'why would they be there card?'

Here's a thought for you........in the 63 years since Israel repelled the first Arab invasion of Israel, through numerous wars, border scraps, proxy spats, etc etc etc.......Israel has killed AT MAXIMUM 6000 Syrians.
The last 4 through a heavy fence and 1/4 mile distance, big threat to the big men with the big guns, you can shove that up there too. Israel has probably caused that many still births since '67 in just Gaza.

Bashir Assad has killed more Syrians in 10 months than the Israelis have killed in 60 years.
Now say the same thing except substitute 'people' for 'Syrians' and claim it's the truth. It's the rebels blowing up police buses in public areas 'tard. [QUOTE= said:

Suck it up here are the updates

39 Dead as Syrian Army Seizes Baba Amr and Rebels Withdraw 'Tactically'

The Syrian foreign ministry said it was willing to discuss a date for a visit by U.N. humanitarian chief Valerie Amos, after her announcement on Wednesday that she had been turned away prompted an outcry.

Since the UN is riddled with spies as is shown in IAEA why not let Russia do the inspection and report to the UN, when Libya let in British commandos and they showed them 'things' suddenly those things started blowing up putting the rebels under NATO's wing of be overrun.

Security Council Unanimously Agrees Statement Demanding Syria Humanitarian Access

I don't recall Israel letting in any UN staff to access Lebanon when they got bombed for a month or during Cast Lead when that went on for a month. The UN sure is a two-faced bitch most of the time, that for sure. Syria in in the process of cleaning up the stragglers of the rebels, the rebel leaders already booked it, let the UN interview them if they are all hot and bothered about getting a story. I seem to recall when Egypt first started rioting against the Gov the US and Israel were promoting the killing of the rioters.

Anybody interested in humanitarian aid. That happened pretty quick once live ammo stopped being traded. Too bad Cuba wasn't asked by the UN to set up a field hospital like they had going in Haiti, didn't take the UN long to change from flying in weapons to flying in aid, the pilots even did their own radio tower thing lol.
(in part)
"A convoy of seven lorries carrying aid was en route to Homs on Friday, a day after regime forces overran its Baba Amr district ending a nearly four-week pounding, a Syrian Arab Red Crescent official said.
"We are on the way to Homs, along with the International Committee of the Red Cross, carrying food, medicines, blankets, milk for babies and other equipment," said SARC operations chief Khaled Erksoussi."

Is this the Kuwait incubator poster child for Syria. Talk about the media taking advantage of that 'not having to print the truth' rule lol It doesn't get any more blatant than this.

If they flee on a Thursday how do they know 10 were killed on Friday? Probably shot by the leaders ditching so they couldn't spill the beans.
(in part)
The residential district became a symbol of resistance to Assad after government troops surrounded it with tanks and artillery and shelled it intensively for weeks, killing and wounding civilians cowering in its ruined buildings.
Rebels withdrew on Thursday in a key moment in the year-old uprising. An official at Syria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said the army had "cleansed Baba Amro from the foreign-backed armed groups of terrorists."
Activists said Syria's army had begun hunting down and killing insurgents who had stayed to cover their comrades' retreat, although the reports could not be verified. They said 10 young men were shot dead on Friday.

Syria now faces growing protests

They were writing anti-government graffiti on school walls and grain silos... I imagine the parents have joined the revolt too.

I was the first person in this forum to start a thread on the growing protests in Syria. That was a year ago. Because the MSM wasn't hammering us with gruesome images at the time, few people here on this forum cared.

Just because you did I think recent updates are what you should be posting today. Some of knew Syria existed before your OP.
