I think he should go to court to have the illegal stripping of the powers of his office by the City Council reversed. Then i think he should run again.. and will most likely win.

There is no evidence of corruption, or malfeasement.. just indecorous personal behaviour. This has turned into a lynch mob. With our 'brave' PM joining in once he saw that mob rule would prevail.

If he really values taxpayer money, he wont put the city through an expensive legal battle over this.

Even if he had a legal leg to stand on, which doesn't appear to be the case, he can't do any good for anyone by regaining these powers. He has lost all respect from city council and other levels of government, so he literally can't accomplish anything. All he could do with those powers is raise hell and slow down city business.

Northern Ontario,
I hope he runs again and wins, just to see the councillors, chief of police and the star, with pie on their collective condescending faces

The best thing Ford can do is get through the next 10 months without doing anything stupid and hopefully that will convince folks to vote for him, if he is the best candidate. I think more serious that what he's actually done is putting himself in a position that people question him?

With Blair's buddy, Chow and Liberal man running against him, he could win with less than 40% of the vote.......
There are always about a billion people running in the mayoral race. I think that the "anybody but Ford" movement will be more than strong enough for people to rally around a reasonable alternative rather than split the vote 20 ways. Also, Ford's support has shrunk quite a bit. There will be more than a few fiscal conservatives in the race to take away any support for Rob other than the diehard people who bought into his cult of personality.

That is what makes me question him so much right now. Anyone with half a brain knows that he would be much better off if he had taken a leave.

He can't get into trouble if he simply isn't around, and if he could show people that he made a good faith effort to get himself better, his "there is nothing I can do about the past, I'm moving on" line would work a hell of a lot better. Nobody plays the underdog better than Rob Ford. If he had gone away for a while, got help, and came back visibly healthier, the election would be a tap in for him.

The fact that he is currently not acting in his own best interests or the best interests of the city is scary. It indicates a man who has gone far off the deep end.

Some American commentators are characterizing this as a case of a fiscal conservative being attacked by left wing media. I think this is just a case of one man wrestling with his own demons.

I wish people would forget about this left wing/right wing sh*t. It's more like right vs. wrong. In most ways Ford is right, just gets a little stupid at times.

If you are prepared to abandon the duopoly of left and right you have arrived at the conclusion that no real alternative exists other than revolution. Join me there.

He is good at yelling things that sound good and yelling at people about how great he is, but his ability to actually get things done is pretty limited by his inability to work with people.

Maybe since people seem willing to turn a blind eye to Mini Trudeau's experiment with pot, the same courtesy should be afforded Mr. Ford.

Ford Nation is turning a blind eye to it. They dont seem to care about that or anything he has said or done over the last few weeks.

The US elected Obama twice and he admitted to doing coke. Times have changed.

Why Rob Ford is better than most low-life politicians

Across the world we are governed by spineless pygmies

Last week on the Arlene Bynon Show on Toronto Talk 640 Radio I was asked whether the Rob Ford affair hadn’t brought Canada into disrepute. I’m British. You’ve got to be kidding. First, it presupposes that the antics of one maverick Canadian — all right: throw in Justin Bieber and make it two — could in any way jeopardize Canada’s hard-won, long-standing and largely well-deserved international reputation for being not exactly the most rock ‘n’ roll nation on earth. Second, it assumes that politicians are held in such high esteem that we care when they fall short.

But we know, almost all of us, that politicians are essentially principle-free low-lifes. All right, there may be exceptions — but generally our opinion of the political class is so low it comes as no real surprise when they’re caught with their trousers down.
