they need more money, so what better way to earn it then through claimed earthly problems.

All scientists require more money, not just atmospheric chemists, geologists, physicists, biologists, statisticians, engineers, etc.

And the universe will always have more to show us.

Isn't global warming on TV a lot Tonnington? How dos we tell the quality stuff from the bad stuff? All the charts and all the experts are always confusing us with numbers and squiggly lines, it's getting cold here right now man.

It's getting pretty hard now. Both pro and con arguments are saturated in the media. You can read and read and read the technical stuff to get a minor understanding, passable for informed amateur really. Or you can listen to talking heads on the television, blogosphere, radio, newsprint, etc. I prefer the former.

ppl always make big deals outta everything. from what i can remember the earth getting warm them cooling itself down is natural. example: when i was living in ny (which i did for 19 yrs) i had some cold lots of snow kinda winters, then there would b a time where it would hardly snow at all, then back to lots of snow again. i grew up with that happening so idk it seems kinda normal to me

Me too except NY, NS is the same I guess.

The media does like to saturate, I am always suspicious of it and the popular message and I have good reason to doubt many subjects and the lean injected through burger world. Our stable economy being a good example. Weather it's too hot or too cold or in the wrong place at the wrong time will unfold soon enough I guess. We should hide some seeds just in case though maybe.

And have at least a basic knowledge of how to propagate the seeds.

Make sure to keep your chickens healthy too!

My girlfriend's chickens were shipped over to PEI for slaughter last month. I'm sure they've already been eaten in the Chinese restaurants :D

Her instructor wanted to save one of the hospital birds and keep it 8O

Chickens are handy. Ones no good you need two, at least. They should be bigger though and have more legs.

Sea Ice Growing at Fastest Pace on Record

By: malterwitty
Tags: SCIENCE/HEALTH

An abnormally cool Arctic is seeing dramatic changes to ice levels. In sharp contrast to the rapid melting seen last year, the amount of global sea ice has rebounded sharply and is now growing rapidly. The total amount of ice, which set a record low value last year, grew in October at the fastest pace since record-keeping began in 1979.
DailyTech - Sea Ice Growing at Fastest Pace on Record

wonder what taxes "they" can come up with to fix this "man made" problem....

One year of change does not make a trend. If you go ahead and say "well this year the ice grew, therefore I'll fire up my SUV and burn a forests worth of hardwood while the ol' Escalade idles in the driveway" then you are a ****ing retard.

Sure, ice comes and goes. It doesn't mean that man isn't affecting change in his environment. Sure there is more sea ice this year.... go nuts burn fossil fuels like there is no tomorrow.... you are all idiots.

Well if we are all idiots, you must be the special kid they let in for sympathy.

Last year's winter was one of the coldest on record, and certainly the coldest in recent decades.... this winter will be very much the same if not worse.

It ain't a trend, it's the natural cycle.

And if you want to follow along and tail Gore wherever he goes and hang on everything he says, you can fill your boots until you gotta change your underwear, because I really don't care either. It's pretty damn funny though, that you put so much into a guy who thinks we (Or maybe just himself) can modify and/or control the natural cycles of the earth like it's a bad thing.... a guy who probably thinks no animal on this planet should go extinct from here on in.... like that ever was a normal thing in all of Earth's history.

The guy is a wing nut with a load of money who thinks he can be the next James Bond villian by controlling the climate to his whim...... and you follow along with the same garbage he thinks is right..... oh sorry, and a bunch of other scientists who merc their opinion out for top dollar...... we sure can trust that, you becha.

I forgot, scientists never lie or leave a few important tid bits out so the public knows nothing..... no, they've never shoved sh*t down our throats in the past and told us it was good for us when it turns out, it wasn't.

Who's the real idiot?

this forum has degraded to a disgusting degree.

T posts an actual scientific argument, and what does he get in return?

Insults and rudeness over something so simple as a discussion about sea ice? How old are we!? Come on guys. Not one of you is that disingenuous.

"If you believe A you're a retard."

"If you believe B you're a moron."

Argh!!!

Where did all the grown ups go lately? What are we DOING!?

hey hey it ain't "we" exactly :)

That's one thing I can really appreciate about Tonnington, I've seen him get all sorts of BS slagging thrown his way and he generally totally ignores it or even better, ignores the BS AND accurately refutes the falsehoods

Nice Work, T

As for the OP. I have no clue what might be going on with the sea ice, or if it shows an actual change, but the weather is freaking me out. We still have leaves on trees, grass showing on our lawns. We have two small patches in the front of our house that are the remnants of snowmen my children made last weekend, thrilled to finally see snow. But now it's gone again. Sitting here in 'the North' (sure, it's the farthest south I've ever lived, but it's still the north), it's eerie to not have snow yet, and temps above 0.

Sorry mabudon, but the alternative wording is to pick out individual participants, and excuse the rest of us for sitting back and not saying anything. Right now it seems to be beyond just a few participants on the forum, and almost every thread devolves into the same sort of thing.

Oh I know Karrie, I should have said it ain't ALL of us, I could name a dozen folks who are long-time who I have NEVER had a single issue with, even folks I pretty much disagree with on EVERYTHING

Tho coming here HAS felt like "slumming" a little bit the past couple months :D
