All I can say is thank gawd the liberal close-up-magic social engineers will have the term re-named, softened and classified as a disorder. The poor sick perverts that simply watch Universal Royalty, the latest in 10 year-old lingerie layouts or your kids as they play in park...at least those misunderstood pathetic animals just go home (or into the bushes perhaps) and wank.
I mean, calling them pedophiles is just so, you know, dirty, cruel. Poor folks.
Minor-attracted is much more befitting for the poor conflicted souls.
Or....or, maybe, we could keep calling them pedophiles and stop giving-in to the incessant call for their rights or whatnot. Their 'feelings'.

Changing the way the medical profession views pedophilia won't change the laws, but it may change the way these people are treated and viewed. The current approach of imprisoning these people is a temporary solution. Sooner or later they serve their time and are released. Unlike bank robbers and murderers, pedophiles can't be "rehabilitated". Unlike people with mental disorders, these people can't be treated, except possibly with chemical castration.
Publishing their names and locations leads to another set of problems including vigilante justice and murder.

I think the solution to the problems caused by pedophilia lies in prevention. People with pedophile tendencies need to be identified before they are adults and get help to control/manage their impulses and actions. That won't happen if identification leads to punishment, assault and murder... That would simply drive these people underground. Increasing the severity of the penalty, increases the stakes and makes it more likely that pedophile rape will lead to murder.
I support holding people responsible for their ACTIONS, but not their thoughts. What people think as they "wank" is none of my business. Everyone should be able to control their actions or face incarceration. But few people can control their thoughts and no one should go to prison for having illegal thoughts. If we can identify and treat people with pedophile thoughts before they commit pedophile acts, the medical profession and/or criminal justice system might be able to intervene before the person commits pedophile acts.

I can't help but think that softening it, classifying it a disorder, making the 'mental health industry' welcoming to people who think this way, can only serve to protect children. God knows hunting pedophiles down and burning them at the stake never stemmed the flow. Humanity has spewed plenty of hate at those who are this uniquely twisted, and it certainly has never disappeared. Well guess what folks... the legal system already treats them as 'ill' rather than as hard criminals, it would be good if medicine caught up so that they can work alongside the fluff sentencing structures.

Well I can guarantee that if a pedophile ever touched my grandchildren there would be no need for a trial or a stay in club fed and no repeat offender.
That's my feeling on the matter, but the times they are a changin'. There are so many different varieties of whacko and miscreants today because our way of life has become quite easy and there is a broad tolerance, not to mention that survival of the fittest is now a moot point. Quite often the weak mentally are also weak physically and in the olden days wars kept things on an even keel.

A good friend of mine who was a police sargent at the time went to a training course about paedohiles and paedophilia.....he was pissed when he returned, because he was thinking he was going to learn new ways to catch them but instead, it was all about how to get the words paedophile and paedophilia out into the public to get them used to these words.............
