Now , now let's not get carried away!! (Were you in a trance during Nixon's term?)

Yeah, Nixon was awful.....but he got the USA out of Vietnam, he got a Chemical and Biological weapons treaty, ..............and, for better or worse, he opened up China.

I am NOT a fan, but Tricky Dick did NOT disintegrate the southern border, use the IRS to persecute political enemies (he tried, the IRS refused), completely blow the budget, increasing the deficit to horrendous levels, and generally behave as the enemy of the USA, not as their president.

What they have announced has been disastrous.

In terms of any other platforms, generally, a Party tries to do this in order to generate a membership base... Time is ticking for Trudeau Jr and the longer he waits, the easier it will be for the big tent parties to pick him apart

They haven't been successful in picking Trudeau apart. Polls indicate that his support has risen significantly since he got in, and--bad for the Tories--seem to have solidified. Perhaps they'd be more successful in picking apart the platform, which is maybe why we haven't seen much of it yet. On the other hand the Liberal foreign policy positions in Israel and the Ukraine aren't that different from the Conservatives.

If you are under the impression that there are any real attack ads out there now, you might want to brace yourself for the period of time when the election is formally called.

Right now, Trudeau is his own, personal attack ad.. Each time he opens his potato-trap, he manages to jam one of his feet in there.

It ain't gonna be pretty once the election is announced

Yeah.....and Obama is the worst US president in history.

The worst.

Well, maybe Buchanan was worse......but it is a close thing.

OK, so according to you, Harper is the best (since Louis St. Laurent) and Obama is the worst. Wow, we are really living in a moment, aren't we? ;)

Well what I'm hoping is that the attack ads just make Harper look hyperpartisan and vindictive. He's even getting this from his old allies now, like Mike Duffy and Tom Flanagan. I think this wil lhappen particularly if, as you indicate, the ads get even nastier. Certainly didn't do Kim Campbell any favours.

You need to reconsider your analysis here... The bulk of the attack ads will originate from the NDP and be focusing on Quebec.

Trudeau is only a real threat to Mulcair and the Dippers will be gutting and roasting Trudeau using Jr's own words and folly the entire time.

Yep.

Unfortunately, we have had a real shortage of great leaders.

I don't think Harper is great, I simply think he is better than any of the others..............

Memo to Justin Trudeau...

2.4% of people showed some sympathy for violent protest and terrorist acts. Sympathy was more likely to be articulated by the under 20s, those in full time education rather than employment, those born in the UK, those speaking English at home, and high earners (>£75,000 a year). People with poor self-reported health were less likely to show sympathies for violent protest and terrorism. Anxiety and depressive symptoms, adverse life events and socio-political attitudes showed no associations.

Sympathies for violent protest and terrorism were uncommon among men and women, aged 18–45, of Muslim heritage living in two English cities. Youth, wealth, and being in education rather than employment were risk factors.
