Like we have not had an actual Right Wing government in many decades when what we "actually" have is the most Right Wing government the West has seen since WWII.
Our govt today is a Socialist govt, they just happen to be penny pinching Socialists.

Many opinions have been expressed about the shooting of 24 people in a Toronto community housing project, and the shooting of 82 in a Colorado movie theatre. Admirably, the CBC is explored the role of extremely high temperatures as a trigger for violent behaviour.

I know that living in a small, hot,

airless room (airless eh?)

would motivate me to strike out at people.

Barbara Falby, Toronto

( what the goddamned fuk is this bitch on about?)

I'll assume she might be a big ol' sweaty hog that would easily expire unless she had air conditioning and industrial air movers. Oh, and also, that she might be creating the 'it's hot so I killed them' Nathan Jessup-like defense because "I'm a fair guy, but this fukking heat is making me absolutely crazy".

But thanks for the laffs anyway Barbara.

Not much to go on there. Does anybody have an intelligent contribution. You don't have to agree but you do have to show that some thought goes into it.

Like we have not had an actual Right Wing government in many decades when what we "actually" have is the most Right Wing government the West has seen since WWII.

Harper is a red eyed libertarian when he is not being a duplicitous self aggrandiser. Just because he has not been able to force all his voodoo economic practises on the country and inflict his Victorian morality and social instincts yet, does not make him any the less Right Wing. He will do it as he can as the Omnibus Bill showed. That went a big step towards removing environmental and economic protections from Canada. His funding changes have moved along his antediluvian social agenda.

Congrats! I was quite sure you would not address the simple facts, instead descend into an anti Harper rant. If you think the current federal government is true right wing then you know little outside of your dogmatic affliction. Proof of that is never seeing you support one single item put forward by the current government, whereas many here express support for parts of every political party's agenda.

Could you provide us with some links to a the question you seem to be uncomfortable with, that of the penchant of progressives to never want to venture into the immigration mess that were so very complicit in?

Seems like a quite fair assessment to me. Harper is complicit in the things she accuses him of. In a country less populated by sheep than this, he would have been removed one way or another long ago.

Actually, since it was known before he achieved office that he intended to destroy the social fabric of Canada and that he was bound to oil over anything, he would never have been elected where there was any level of political literacy.

Her writing it the way she did is for effect. It is a technique perfected by Harper and Flanagan and enthusiastically embraced by the neoFascists of the CPC. Demonize the opposition with the most outrageous and egregious slanders and lies.

The difference is that this lady simply exaggerates the power of Harper to do harm.

That is even too far off to be considered spin. More like pure BS.

I have no intention of delving into the immigration mess here. It is entirely unrelated. I will, say that the discrimination Kenney has introduced into it reflects no credit on the CPC.Give them credit for what? What has this government done that deserves credit?

It is far and away the worst administration that Canada has ever experienced. It is ideologically driven, anti-democratic, dictatorial, secretive, elitist, economically illiterate and socially 'dinosauric.' It might be the most regressive government that the Western World has experienced.

Will that do. I can't think of anything offhand although I am sure that there might be a few administrative pluses.

I did not know that they were all moronic, goober. Thank you for telling me. Should I stop treating them like human beings with fully functioning brains?

In order to stop treating people like human beings you would logically have to have been treating them like human beings in the first place. You don't. You talk down to everyone, have since the moment you arrived here.

You imply that most here are moronic- those that disagree are meet with condescending behaviours. You are driven by ideology- Time and again it jumps off the page.

Don't try the ad hominem deflections. Science is not ideology and it is amusing that you take that tack when the opposition to the science is driven in part by ideology; in part by greed; in part by fundamental religion.

And, in the mass of the populace by a rather pathetic fear to face reality. Man is notoriously reticent to prepare for the future; to face possibilities that are not pleasant, but that is not a logical position.

Do you read what you write? You said that I am driven by ideology. Since I am posting what science says about climate, where is the ideology? The extension of that can only be that you are saying that science is ideology.

If you want to broaden this to the government of the day, then tell me where is the ideology in criticizing this CPC government? I write of its misfeasances and I have yet to see any justifiable defense of what I criticize.

What ideology would you say that I follow. I belong to no Party and, at various times have supported all three major parties. That includes co-managing the campaign of a Conservative candidate in the days when we had a Conservative Party.

And this is objective?
Of course it is objective. I have given my reasoning for all of that in the course of the discussions. Argue with those reasons if you do not like the conclusion.

Prorogations. The first in the history of Parliamentary government to shut down Parliament in mid session. Done to avoid censure and/or defeat.
Cancellation of gin control against the express wishes of the great majority of the population.
Killing organizations and programmes that enhanced the ststus and legal causes of women.
Stopping foreign aid for countries that do not proscribe abortion.
Tax credits for the Middle and Upper Classes to be paid by those of lower income.
Gagging government scientists and cancelling programmes and facilities that do valuable research.
Cutting certain taxes to support the claim that revenues are insufficient to sustain medicare and other services.
Killing the Canadian Wheat Board to "free" farmers against their interests and wishes.
Issuing a booklet to is caucus on how to obstruct Parliamentary committees.
Stacking the Senate with hacks who do his bidding WITHOUT debate or consideration of the legislation and without attendance at debates where they do take place.
Manipulating election funds.
Hundreds of millions of your money spent on Party propaganda under the guise of public information.
Chanelling all authority away from Parliament into the PMO.
Secrecy. Reducing Parliament to irrelevance and replacing it with executive government.

I could go on for pages but that gives some sense of this administration. So argue that instead of the snide insults.
