I did my basic in Petawawa, was a member of 74 Comm group throughout my time as reg and res, was in Cyprus and Bosnia attached to 1 R22eR (yes I earned a maroon beret but got a few laughs for having sparks on it) and spent time at a few diffierent locations in Canada including CFB Aldergrove, Esquimalt, Chilliwack, Suffield, Wainright and Cold Lake. Classification was RTOp 214, achieved a rating of expert on the FNc1 and sidearm and left with an honorable discharge in 1993 having achieved a rank of Captain the year before.

Wow... a rear echelon pouge officer. How far from the front could you get! You obviously got assigned to a Comm Shack because you couldn't lead troops in the field.

Yeah, thats what all the pussy Army Rangers at Ft Lewis thought before a bunch of Comm Rgt guys kicked there asses in an exercise. Everyone in the Canadian Forces can fight man! You were probably an official as*wiper for some general and never left the USA. What exactly did you do, wear full-dress and stand in front of some govt buiding or get your officer coffee once an hour?

come on guys, you both know as well as I do that people that get their info on "army life" from old Audie Murphy movies is just gonna spin and spin and spin.

Funny to see Audie Murphy's name a couple of time on here now. He came out later in life and said he did not want to participate in his films because he thought they were far from the truth of war and glorified war. His films were just spin and propaganda and a recruiting tool.

Come now... stop making me laugh. If you were a Captain you were without question wiping some Major's azz and fetching his coffee.

In the rear with the gear.

You act like the infantry just goes out and plays guns with Comm guys from Canada. You guys fix, clean, and listen to radio traffic.

Dream on.

As I said before, I don't think the celebrations were Americans expressing relief for themselves personally, but perhaps it was a more general relief that I can kind of understand. Bin Laden may not have been threatening to them personally, but it's the kind of relief you feel when you hear one of the FBI's most wanted criminals dies. "At least the world is probably a better place. That person isn't around to hurt anybody else or make any more mischief."

Personally, I think he should have been hoisted up for all to see. Then they should have quartered him and sewn his the pieces into the disemboweled carcasses of pigs. At which point they should have video taped said carcasses being dumped into the sea. I don't give a rats sphincter whether it offends the Muslim community.

From all I've heard Osama bin Laden is not a representative of muslims, so why on earth would we extend him the courtesy of an honorable burial? People of his ilk saw off heads, massacre children, treat women as cattle. So as far as I'm concerned he does not qualify for the same treatment or consideration of a fallen enemy warrior. He is a cult leader, a trumped up Charles Manson. A mass murder. He has no honor.

F_ck him.

And yet you would give up your honor over him? That's what I mean when I say the radical muslims won. You are apparently willing to become dishonorable over them and their ilk...they win! It is only by defying them and holding our freedoms and our morals and honor we defeat their purposes.

You obviously have us mistaken with american comms guys.

Canadian Comm Regiments are trained to fight with the infantry and our guys are attached to almost every unit in Canada.

They aren't infantry.

But your right, us infantry need supply, admin, and comm pouges. Tell me, why you Comm guys are (supposedly) kicking the crap out of everyone, who's minding the radios and maintaining comm?

lol. You gotta get up earlier to beat me son.

I think you are suffering from lost valor.

Entered in 81, did jump school when it was still in Edmonton, I am an old fart you know.

Spent all of about 2 days in Red Deer, was with 745 Rgt, Nanaimo though I was never actually stationed there, but 749 was the western command.

Where were you?

Those who shield themselves behind children have no honor.

My conscience is fully intact.

It has everything to do with your morals if you are going to act exactly like those you call immoral and and supposedly oppose.

You can keep characterizing my beliefs about free speech however you want but you are incorrect, I will try to calrify for you one more time as it seems you have a hard time understanding english. I believe that speech or expression that promotes or incites hatred and violence should not be considered free, especially if it is intended to promote hatred or violence.

What do you mean he's not alive, my buddy was married by him in Vegas just a few months ago.8O

People who go on and on about other's hatred toward arch villans would be making a lot better use of their time and effort if it was directed toward helping those who are suffering through no fault of their own. Let's just let Osama drop into anonymity and forget the bastard.

I had forgotten him until Sunday, he had become marginalized and ineffective so I didn't care anymore.
