Awesome! Someone else who is - what are the words? Oh yeah, "unread, humourless, and obtuse"! And I was thinking that I was the only one!!
MWAHAHA!!

Given some of the things Walter has posted this is pretty mild. You either have to take him seriously or pretend he is Stephen Colbert.

There was an article in our local paper about the July 12 riots in 1849 and 1873 ( I think it was) where the Catholics threw stones at the local Orangemen on parade, and the Orangemen responded with gunshots. I think in 1849, 12 Catholics were killed in the riot.

Interesting reading.

Here's to Good King Billy
Who saved us from Popes and popery
And Knaves and knavery
And wooden shoes and brass money.

And may whomever denies this oath
be stuffed in the barrel of the great gun of Athlone
and the gun fired into the Pope's belly,
and the Pope fired into the Devil's belly,
and the Devil fired into Hell,
and the Gate slammed and locked tight,
and the key safely in an Orangeman's Pocket.

Bumped for the occasion.

My great-grandfather was a member of the Orange Order for all of his adult life. he was very, very active with it, both in Ireland and in Canada.

He spewed hatred, intolerance and none of his 11 surviving children could stand him. His middle daughter called him "The meanest s.o.b. in Canada". On the day of his wife's funeral, he moved his girlfriend into the family home.

Anyone that supports, in any way, shape or form what the Orange Order supports is mentally ill in my opinion.

Sure nothing like a little more confrontation to grease the rails of anger. Maybe we can ratchet it up with an Irish Car bomb or a Bloody Sunday.

Idiocy...

My family is Irish to the bone and as far as I'm concerned anyone who get's involved in this bull**** is no brother or sister of mine.

Yep - we are so short of hatred we need idiots to help fan the flames. Not realizing the costs. FFn idiots. Another pestilence that will always be with us. No cure for hatred.

We're all mutts. But hatred knows no boundaries. Chris Rock said, the most racist people he ever met were old black men. Hatred is a sure sign of low self esteem, trying to boost oneself up by degrading another. Sad.
